Well - I finally sold my stock cage/front hoop and am gonna built a custom cage for my FJ40. Unfortunately, I sold the cage BEFORE I measured how high the various horiz bars were to ensure I can clear the soft top.

Can anyone with a stock cage or custom one that fits a soft top take a few measurements and tell me the height from a common reference pt (say fender wells in back and floor in front)? PLEASE??

Please post this info! It' will help me out greatly too. I've never had a cage or top so I need to know where to put things!!

Mine mearsures 49 inches at the front by the windshield, that's from the floor to the top of the cage. That puts it a little above the windshield but still plenty of clearance for a hard top.

Behind the seats it measures about 37 inches from the top of the fender wells to the top of the cage.
