I have a 95 chevy with a TBI 350 with 196k on it. I was wanting to put in a vortech 350. Has anyone here done this or know what all is involved or is it even worth it? Thanks for the info in advance.

you have 2 options for that swap....you can either swap in a Vortec computer which you can get at most parts stores for around $100 plus a $50 core charge, and you'll also have to have a complete vortec motor....or if you wanted to keep your TBI and run a vortech motor you can get an intake from GM at your local dealer that converts from TBI to the Vortec heads, it costs around $250...you will still get a very noticable gain in Hp from the vortec motor with the TBI....and of corse the most hp would be gained by swaping in the entire motor and swaping computers...but most of the hp comes from the vortec head design and not as much from the intake....id recomend you use the GM adaptor intake and keep your stock comp and put a TBI helical spacer on it like you can get from Poweraid which spins the air as it enters the motor giving you alot of the same as the vortec intake

done this before . I used a Performer RPM edelbrock carb intake for the vortecs and then a carb to TBI adapter from holley. adapter was difficult to locate , but GM intake cost like $360 and this setup was about $200. BTW that thing ran like a raped ape. I tried to buy the truck from the guy I was doing the swap for it ran so good . There are other small details but the are easliy worked through . PM me if you need help with part numbers as I've worked parts for the last 9 years.

Thanks for the info. Im just not to sure what I want to do with the motor but I have to do something within the next month.Just wanted to see how difficult it was to swap in the entire motor if it seems more work than its worth ill just rebuild mine with vortech heads headers and some other stuff. But really wanting to swap the whole motor.

You will have a tough time with smog if you need to register it. The vortec heads have no EGR.

you could have egr if you use the gm intake and a stock vortec drivers side manifold and egr plumbing .

What about using the vortech intake and heads won't the stock intake have the egr mount on it?

I think Im just going to go with the vortech heads and the GM intake and some headers

How are you going to plumb the smog stuff?

Have a buddy that had like a 89 or 90 he swapped a complete vortec motor with harness into. He had to pull his TBI harness out of the truck and send it along with the vortec harness to some company that grafted the two into one. Its cool because all his factory gauges work and all now. I think it cost him a couple hundred to have it done.

I emailed Edelbrock and they said to use this manifold.

They make this for chevy and it allows you to use the stock tbi setup with vortech heads and keep the EGR.
