im thinking of doing a 3 in body to my 99 tahoe(old body) does any body know if you can or how to raise the tow hook brakets and rear receiver hitch up so its flush with the bumper in the rear and the tow hooks are in the same position relative to the bumper prior to doing the higher bumper brackets? i just cant justify the 1400 plus for an ifs lift and new drive shaft up front (damn auto track) will i be able to clear 33 12 50's on 15 x 10's or should i go with 15 x 8 's ?

A GIRL down the road from where I live has a Tahoe with 3" body and it is on 33/12.5 15/10 and looks pretty good for a street only truck.

i relocated my tow hooks on my 90 chevy when i did my 3" body lift.....its pretty easy.....what i did was took the hooks off and tapped the holes in them......machined a 2" thick soild block with the holes drilled for the new oversized bolt because of taping out the holes in the hooks....then i drilled out the 4 holds in the frame for the hooks to match.....i also had to flip the 6 bumer bracket bolts where the nut was on the outside of the frame....this allowed room for me to slide the 2" thick block inside the frame, put the bolts up thru them from the bottom and used the now tapped tow hooks as the nut.....its that easy.....if you dont have acces to a mill i can hook you up with a set of the blocks for $30+ shippin....pm me if you want

Just my 2 cents....Are you SURE you want to run a 3 inch body lift? You may save the money now, but wait untill you have to fix all the tears in the body of your rig down the road. I had a 3 inch body lift on my jeep and It tore the hell out of it. It was a complete bitch to fix...
spend the $$ Get a real lift.

me and 6 of my friends are running 3" bodylifts on 88-98 chevys...including 2 excabs....we severly abuse these trucks and none of us have ever had any problems with the bodylifts....we've broke just about everything else...but not the body lift or the body in any way other then trail rash

I don't know if it makes a difference being a chevy, but after just 2 years the tub on my jeep was ripped to HELL from my bodylift.
The two mounts under my bed tore huge rips in the back. The six mounts (3 on each side under the doors) crushed the metal and sank up into the body. The worst was the two mounts in the back, they both punched holes in the body so the back of my rig would just bounce up and down creating even MORE damage.
There are 11 bodymounts total and every single one was damaged. Before the body say closer to the frame and had more support so it didn't flex as much.
The biggest thing that made me get rid of it, is when I kept seeing college kids in chromed out wanna-be jeeps that have unused transfercases drive by me with THE EXACT SAME BODY LIFT. That was a REAL BIG CLUE. I cowboyed-up and went SOA
Also, no offence and forgive my ignorance if I am wrong, but don't you guys out in Clinton-ville do more wheeling in the mud? Out here in CA, I am crawling over boulders and tweaking my frame out. Maybe the way we wheel is different so the damage to your truck would not be the same as what mine would be. Again, I have no idea, just a guess.

ok first of all an IFS suspension lift to me isnt worth the money since you gain nothing but the ability to run larger tires....to me the only suspension lift worth doin to a 88-98 chevy is a SAS....that's why i have cowboyed up and went SAS on mine.....second....compairing a jeep to a 88-98 chevy isnt even as close as compairing apples to oranges....atleast those 2 are fruit and have 1 thing in common....the body's are totaly different as well as the body mounts...my ex cab has 16 body mounts + 2 crushblocks.....my body lift is a performance accessories lift, the other trucks are runnin pa's, trailmasters, and 1 skyjacker....still yet 0 problems with any of them....maybe you didnt install yours correctly or something.....we put our trucks in just as much of a bind as you put your heep....tires suspended 3+ ft in the air every trail ride.....yes there is more mud here in "clinton-ville" but CA isnt the only place rocks grow;) we do happen to have this place called Hot Springs here in "clinton-ville" which i'll be at in Oct when superlifts 4xadventure series is there....but back to the subject at hand.....it is possible to relocate the tow hooks after the bodylift and i dont blame stink for not wanting to spend over $1400 on a IFS liftkit and your jeeps bodylift really cant compair to these trucks bodylifts....but thanks for your 2c anyway
