Took the boy scouts out playing in the snow last weekend. headed up Mallardy Ridge to a nice sledding spot at the top. About 3/4 of the way up, I have to winch the guy behind me out. While setting up, I notice that there is a LOT of oil coming out the front of my engine. Peek under there, oil is dripping in a stream off the bottom of the engine mount bolt where it goes through the frame perch. Wierd place for oil to come from. I poke around and look around, turns out my oil filter sprang a leak, right at the seam along the top edge. It was sending a high pressure stream of oil over onto the engine mount where it was dripping down from. (Glad it was hitting the frame and perch rather than the exhaust) Tried to bandage it back together but no go. Had to turn and head home. Filter was about 2 months old. Never had one split out on me before. Not a mark on it. It was even still pretty clean. It just split the seam for some reason. Screwy. Now I have to carry a spare filter, along with the rest of my junk...

So, I think I am going to try again on new years day. Anyone have any nice sledding slopes for teenager boy scouts. I'd rather not go up to snoqualamie. Traffice coming down the major highways will be miserable. Anything up around Pilchuck, Verlot, Robe Valley? My favorite sledding spot, Coal Lake, had been barricaded for the winter. Can't even get to the turn off.

On another note, onboard air is my next project. Marky mark, you still have that compressor lying on your shelf??

Oops. Almost forgot. Santa brought me a nice digital camcorder for christmas. Time to post some mpeg's. Think I need some more disk space.... :D

Pat, try to get a good filter like a Mobil 1. They have a much higher burst rating then most filters. Some filters are pretty cheaply made although they are name brand. I can't afford a blown filter at high speed in the Vette.:)

Uh oh, Pat! I might need more bandwidth and not just more disk space. :)

I'm waiting for another 60gig drive to show up.. seems MY MPEGs take up a lot of space. :D

Not planning on building a library of mpeg's. Just an occasional one when something really cool happens. :) Still have to buy a 20 pin wire to run from the camcorder to a usb port. I guess Hitachi has a goofy wire type or something. Still chasing it down.
