hey, this might be a little newbie style tech...but it's a money saver.
I was welding shock mounts on sunday and i wasn't paying attention and should have known better, but i caught my right front brake line on fire...it was an extended stainless steel brakeline. So i was a little bummed, cus now i needed brakelines and i needed some long ones.
so i called for some SS brakelines, to get a price and they don't sell them in single unless you get one made...either way that is mucho dinero...it was like $90 bucks for the brakelines. Money is tight, and i had to find another way.
so i took my brakeline adapter from the hardline to the SS brakeline to find some rubber ones to fit. Well i found a mid 70's 1 ton chevy front brakeline...and it was long enough, but it didn't fit the adapter. I took it anyway, and i was just going to go tomorrow to find an adapter...well i got home and decided to try it right to the hardline from the MC. Well it screwed right in, no leaks...and then it fit onto my dodge 1ton as the brakes are identical for chevy to dodge on the 60's.
so i got like a 12 inch line, thats an eyeball measurment...not quite as long as the SS brakeline but only about 2 inches shorter... i can mount the tab a little lower on the frame to compensate for that.
total cost: $28.88 w/tax.
i know you get brakelines made and i know this is newbie style tech...but it is tech. So for you guys that have 1tons, and the original scout lines...this line will work for a cheap extended brakeline.
i was pumped b/c of the price and the fact taht it just so happened to fit the scout flare.
flame all you want, i have my brakes back.
EDIT: p/n is H86550 and it was bought at advance auto parts.
