I am looking for a good Jeep mechanic in the Folsom/Sac area. I have a '00 TJ that I am having some trouble with and I currently don't have either the time or patience to work on this myself. I have not had good luck finding a trustworthy and qualified person to work on my Jeep so I figured I would ask here.

Any opinions or suggestions would be great.

Oh and if this is a repost :flipoff2:

1. Vibrations, rough running engine, other minor things.
2. Which forum then? It is a Jeep.

I believe that Danny Warden (Formerly of Warden's in placerville) is currently at Folsom Lake Jeep...A dealership with huge modification knowledge. Might be worth a try.

Go to Rosemont automotive, do not pass go. There are very good at diagnosing electrical stuff and general automotive. I kept having CE lights on my 97 4.0 XJ and they found my rear o2 sensor was wired backwards from the factory. They also build some pretty kick ass rock crawlers too.

366-9191, adam or rich, tell them seanp sent ya!

I will give some of these guys a call... I would also be open to someone working on it as a side job... Save both of us some money...

I think it may be a bad factory clutch job and a couple of other issues.

My bro is a tech at Reno Jeep and does side work, but I think that is too far away for ya.
As far a local I dont really know any good shops here(I do all my work myself)

And my comment about being in the wrong forum, ther is no tech in it , you might as well be asking where to replace a air filter on a liberty.(because its a jeep)
Not tryin to bag ya but, this forum and this site as a whole is about hardcore mods and fabrication, not where to go to get a tune up.

I understand this may not be the 'perfect' forum, but I was unsure where else to post it... I wanted people with Jeep experience, my Jeep is very far from stock and it requires someone with a bit more knowledge about Jeeps, and I figured I would ge hammered it I posted this in chit-chat... Normally I do all of my own work, but I have a new baby on the way and all of my free time is spent getting ready for that.

Perhaps I should have asked how to 'fab up' a Jeep mechanic :D

Scott,

Norton Freeland, was a svc writer at Peoples in Folsom. He may still be. Haven't been in for over a year. He treated me well with some warranty work even though I rolled in on 35s locked front and rear with a York hanging on the front of the engine. I only had 5K miles on it and it was a warranty issue, but he treated me like I had a stock PT cruiser. btw He drives a jeep with front and rear D60s so I think he understands a little about lifted jeeps. There was a mechanic there with a long arm TJ, and he's the guy that did the work.

Chris at Eldorado Hills Big O is a good place for tire and balance issues. they have a hunter GSP 7500 balancer. A couple of guys there have built rigs in the lot, not just rice racers.

Vibes wise, make sure its not a bent wheel. IIRC you had steelies? find someone and swap wheels and tires and see if thats an issue. pull the front driveshaft and rule that out.

I've heard alot of good things about rosemont auto, but I don't have any personal experience.

btw, I understand the time issue, but you are gonna pay through the nose to get everything fixed.

edit: fixed spelling of the svc writers last name...

btw, scot. Congrats on the dad-to-be.

I'd offer to swap ya tires, but mine are pretty badly out of balance right now.

You can borrow my spare driveshaft if you want to rule that out.

Dan-H,

Thanks for the suggestins and the congrats... I am going to avoid the dealer as I have had some extremly bad luck there.

I know it is not tire/wheel vibration as I have already changed those out. I firmly believe it is engine/clutch/trans related, this may go back to when my clutch was recently replaced.

I will call some of the people suggested and see what happens.
