Okay, I have about had it. :mad3: And am considering selling my landcruiser. how much do you think it is worth.
78 Fj40, 2F, Propane kit, SO, 55 rears, Stock axles locked front and rear, OTT's hy steer, 4 wheel disks, SM420, three speed tcase, brand new 38" sx's, trailready beadlocks, Premier power welder, dual batteries, Lake Rats Hydro steering in a box, Saginaw PS.. And I am sure that there is something I am missing..... Runs and crawls great.

I am tired of it.
Tell me what you think,.,,

EXACTLY!!!, the amount of times, its 3am, your mates have all left hours ago, the bitch, still wont be your bitch, and keeps being more and more difficult to do things too, you think, for a good nights sleep, less pain, and to be clean, id sell the whole POS for $5, and you just want to give in!

hit the bottom of the next bottle, get some takeaway, maybe even a few hours sleep, re-think it!!

Every time that the cruiser pisses me off and I wonder why I keep it, I start thinking what it will cost down the road 6 months when I will undoubtly want to build a similar rig.

The devil you know is better than the one you dont.
You know what your truck has, what it needs, and what it is worth to you.

You WILL want another toy, and you are probably so far into this one (like we all are) that you will take a huge spanking on it if you dump it.

I figure I could NEVER replace my 67, so I keep it. Even though it can be a miserable beeatch.

If I break one more screwdriver adjusting my "temporary" drum brakes, I am going to jam the pointy broken stub into my temple. But I will do that before I sell the truck:D :D

True, True,

every time I get pissed enough, I consider selling mine and buying something more "practical" but the truth is it would kill me to see somebody else driving it around:eek:

hell, I've already rebuilt or replaced everything but the motor (spoken softly so the 2F doesn't hear) :D

Nah, birfields are easy. I know exactly how to break one... ;-)

I am thinking that I will keep the bastard for a while more. Hell I have had her since 1988!!! You know, I think I have had my LC for longer than some of these kids have been alive!!!

Nolen do you still have that rear axle??? I can use it now. But if it is gone than okay..

Since I am going to keep it. Anyone have a glass windshield for cheap?????

good choice not to sell
when i sold my 78, i got out of cruisers completely (wouldn't even go visit my "dad" cause he was always working on them). most miserable two years of my life (and i still didn't have any money)!

I've had my cruiser since like 1984 or something, and I could never get rid of it. If I get tired of it, I just let it sit in the garage til I'm ready for it again. And it's always ther waiting for me!

I got my Cruiser as a birthday gift from my wife.
I knew exactly how I wanted to build it six years ago when she surprised me with it.

I will finally have it on the road this winter and it has been a long, costly build up. been teased about it from everyone yet I have kept building it myself along my own timeline. It's gonna be baaaaad and it's been worth the wait. It will be my daughters in sixteen years or so.

I PM'ed you on the PC windshield.

Nahhhh ! Forget what those other guys said and get rid of the fawker, in fact I'll make it easy on ya.........Give me your address and I'll come and pick it up, haul it away and proceed to have a great time with it.
Then after I run all kinds of great trails and have one hell of a lot of fun I'll post pics for you to see what a great time I've been having with your Cruiser ! :flipoff2:

Never sell a Cruiser unless you've got another one to replace it, trust me you will regret it for the rest of your life.
Like Dogwalker said, just set it aside if you need a break. Cause when summer comes around you'll get the itch and if it ain't there you're gonna slap yourself up side your head for sellin it !

One of the first things you need to think about before you even TOUCH a Land Cruiser is what your plans for the future are. If there is even a minute possibility that you'll sell it, then leave it as close to stock as possible. If you start getting into wheeling-oriented modifications, then know that you'll never even get *haf* of your money back. As long as you're comfortable with this thought, you're golden. I daily drive and wheel a Land Cruiser that I've had for ten years and spent over $25K on it, knowing full well that I probably couldn't get $10K for it if I was to try to sell it. Wheeling modifications seldom add value, as some of us have had to learn the hard way. Remember when Rainey Kirk had the "Zebranator" up for sale? Not one serious bite. If he hadn't come up with the raffle idea, he'd still have it. Reuben Gosewich (sp?) has learned the same painful lesson lately. And just a few days ago the guy with the huge beige-and-blue FJ40 that Warden's built a few years ago (and which appeared recently on the cover of 4WD&SU) put it up for sale at $29K. I happen to know he's already taking a SERIOUS hosing at that price, and in this market, he'll be lucky to get offers beyond $20K...

FWIW, I know how you feel, I have a love-hate relationship with my Land Cruiser, sometimes I stare at it for hours, dreaming of modifications, other times I feel like emptying a jerry can over it and torching it in frustration. I think it comes with the territory, most of us experience it at some point. Just be aware that if you sell it and start another project (which is sometimes a good idea), you'll almost certainly lose money in the process, it's the nature of the beast.

I never figured on making a profit on the thing. I have no idea how much money I have spent on it over the last 14 years. Besides, I guess it is not all that bad ;)

Jason

I've gone on a recent, and much appreciated by my wife (and probably my neighbors), campaign to rid myself of excess Land Cruiser and Toyota truck parts. The new truck really helps, yesterday I delivered a fiberglass top to a guy in Albuquerque, fit right in the bed. And the day before I swapped a bunch of truck parts to a wrecking yard in Albuquerque for some much-needed FJ60 parts and dropped off a 4-speed at Forward Air for a guy in Oregon.

Next in line - an air injection rail, a 3-speed transfer case, AND (for you) - a pair of rear FJ60 axle shafts. If you can use them now I can send them your way, or hold onto them a while if you'd like. I was going to check on the bare FJ60 rear axle housing today, I could send it all along in one shipment. Let me know.

John

P.S. I'm glad you came to your senses and decided to keep the "Fawker".

I think I can her the glee from your wife from here :)

Anything you want to do. Wait and send it all as one package, sent it in parts or wait until you get up here. It is completly up to you. I am easy
;)

And thanks

I wonder if I should try to track down another 4.11 diff and see about my welding up habits. Or mabye I should learn to install some gears myself!!!!!
Hmmmmm.. I was going to get rid of it and now I am going deeper.

Oh boy.....
