: how much does a sammie body weigh?
chevota 02-04-2004, 05:03 PM I need to know how much a sammie body weighs. I have found a body for $100. and would lik to use it on my frame hoping to lose some weight.
the toy cab is around 450 and the bed around 250
Hemogoblin 02-04-2004, 05:51 PM Well, it can't weigh too much as every time I remove my body (both tintop and convertable) I just need an extra pair of hands to help me. It's just unbalancd weight which makes it harder to carry but my guess is somewhere around 300-350 lbs??? Maybe? Anyone have a better idea?
Cheers,
Steve
idaholwb 02-05-2004, 11:50 AM Well, I had to take a sammy convertible body with no doors or interior, but with a rear cage, on a frame with front springs, to the recyclers a couple of years ago. It weighed exactly 700 pounds in that trim.
superzuk 02-05-2004, 03:13 PM but dont forget that you run a LWB, so..a SWB probly weighs in at the 600 lbs mark....
chevota 02-05-2004, 04:00 PM so frame and springs will probly weigh 300lbs so the tub should be in the 300- 400 lbs range?
CTBrent 02-05-2004, 06:48 PM My softop before I doved it and trimmed other sheet metal was carried around by two guys easily. I have moved it around the shop myself. I would be surprised if it was over 250# bare... But all the other stuff adds up quick.
chevota 02-06-2004, 06:01 AM i just bought a sammie to put on my toy frame and was hoping to lose 4-5 hundred pound. sounds like i will lose at least 450. So that sounds good.
Starslope 02-06-2004, 07:10 AM weight stock Sammi is 2094 lbs.
Motor - 100lbs
Trans - 70lbs
tcase 50lbs
front axle 170lbs
rear axle 130lbs
leaf springs ~100lbs
-------------------
620 lbs
so chassy and body: ~ 1474 lbs
chevota 02-06-2004, 09:33 AM don't forget about wheels tires, radator steering and drive shafts.ect ect ect.
all that stuff adds up quick. I'm just trying to get an idea of the weight diff. of the bodys with all the necessities of it (ie: doors, windows, heater, and the like)

Somewhere around 500# complete... doors, seats, heat, targa, etc..
Are you going to put a cage in it?
chevota 02-06-2004, 03:51 PM yea but that will be lighter then one in the toy. I am hopeing to lose about 500lbs so that will put me in at 3200 lbs. I beleive that would be an ideal weight considering the v6 th350 duals with 38.5 sx and 12 wide beadlocks.
Hope that makes as big of diff i think it will on the hill climbs and big ledges
Shrock 02-06-2004, 09:47 PM Just put the axles in the Zuk. :D
My plan is to swap a Samurai body onto a toyota frame. cut the toy box really short and use it. It'll look...different, but that's what I want.
Everyone swaps on Toy axles and stretches the wheelbase. Why no just go straight to a longer wheelbase and toy axles in one easy step :D

yea that eould work but i already have the wheelbase i want and the drive train i want. I think swaping cabs will be the best route.
I paid for the sammie today 100 dollars.
He offered a toy axle with e-locker and coreect offset for the sammie d-trian. plus a complete front w-lock right. Disc brakes on all coners with a ton of xtra parts. all of witch hace 5.38 gears How much do you think these axles are worth?
