Went down to Miami, from Daytona, yesterday to pick it up. I dropped the digital camera in the drink last time I was fishin, so no pics yet.

Its a 1986 with a "built" 350. I am not sure to what extent it is built yet, because the moron I bought it from has no clue, the original owner, who is a mechanic, did it. I know it has a Cam, thats as far as I have it figured out, a 465 or 700r4 tranny...again not sure. I didnt care much because of the deal I got on it. $2900 and the "tank" is in great shape. One thing I am not happy with is the fact that it doesnt fire as soon as I touch the key, sounds like the starter is straining, like there is a ton of compression, and if I come to a stop, and then hammer the throttle, it stumbles, and has even stalled once... BUT runs like a bat outta hell, and sounds killer when it it idleing...rumble...rumble...rumble :D

I do need that web sight that I can plug in the VIN# to tell what it can with stock, if anyone has it handy.
I am going to be building it for the Mud, as there are no rocks here in FL...:D I plan on 38" boggers and, depending on the axles it has now, probably 14 bolt rear and a D60 front, lockers in both.

I know it says I am a newbie, but I was here when it was the OLD board, and I had to re-register.. Beers for all. Any help witht he few questions I have would be great.

Sounds like a carb problem. Might need to need to adjust the accelerator pump so you more or less fuel dumped in when you gas it , probably more if it is built. Someone told me you could go to www.gm.com to run the vin, but i have never tried. a chilton manual will tell you as well.

Not to be a smarta$$, but its pretty easy to tell the difference between a 700R4 and a 465. Is the truck an automatic or a manual?

cj7jeep, i was thinking the same thing. and after bashing the PO for not having a clue what is going on...

sounds like a potential timing issue since he mentioned both a stumble and a hard crank.
