Well, in my current 'stock' Zuki I still run the stock axles.
Last time I was wheeling it, I heard the front axle making a popping sound like you were hitting the R&P with a hammer, so I figured I busted a Birf, no bigge.
Well last night I tore it down, the Birfs are fine, the side gears are fine, but the long side splines are rounded over a bit. the side gear splines are perfect though, and its not cracked.
Anyone have problems like this befor?
It looks like the shaft spun in the sidegear, but there is no damage to the sidegear at all. Just curious about it is all, I have never 'seen' this particular 'break' befor is all.

Orion i saw this on my friends sami he striped out one side. It didnt look to bad but its splinens were little rolled over. So not wanting to waste good axle we changed the side gear still same problem so we changed axle and side gear worked fine for couple months then it did it agin so we fix it with brand new suzuki stuff and it did it again. So i got to thinking about it, and we took the front rearend out and it was bent like taco, it looked staight under the rig but it was bent, so we got another housing and axle trussed it all up and put it in the problem went away. So if you fix it and it come back try checking your housing for straight good luck.

Wow, bent huh? I'll look at it, I have a good complete front axle i got for 'spares' maybe it will become more of spare that i originally thought?
I'll have to truss this one though
Thanks :D
BTW: Which Axis did it bend in?

My rear bent in a "U" shape.
It's easy to fix, but it is easy to do again.
Need a truss.
Use a jack and logging chain to fix it the bent housing.
Use angle iron for a "poor man's truss"

Just some 31" BFG A/T KO's....nothing that big, not even what you would call 'good' on traction.
I want to move up to 32-33" tires with more agressive treads, but with the way I drive THAT one now............................ :D (lots O' skinny peddle:nuke: )

Haven't had any problems with the front housing bending though.

Well I remember now that I had hit the front driverside the trip earlier hard enough to bend the spring almost 45* at the shackle. I wonder if that may have tweaked the housing a bit?
Thanks for the info :D this 'fix' just got a bit more complicated, gotta build a truss and do a SOA on the other housing.
OH well thats part of the fun of wheeling  :D
