: Group purchases
Shadow man 12-30-2001, 06:01 PM I see there is over 9000 members on this board. Why, dont we have sponsers on this board that would give us group purchase discounts? It would pay for this board and at the same time we would have some buying power as a group. I have bought parts this way off of LS1.com and LS1tech.com. As a wheeler I buy twice as much off-road parts as hot rod parts!
aaronlosey 12-30-2001, 06:10 PM sounds good to me, except the fact that you would be mixing alot of money into things. think of what it would be like if we went in on a group purchase for interco, and we all gave our checks to one member to give to interco. then said member runs like hell.
Shadow man 12-30-2001, 06:20 PM Dude, that Is NOT how it works! Go to Ls1.com and see for yourself how it works. The only risk is if you tried to buy from a bad vendor, and I don't believe Lance would let a bad vendor be a sponsor. Only a sponsor CAN do group purchases for the board.
aaronlosey 12-30-2001, 06:38 PM when we have done it in the past, we become wholesalers. you find what your first buy must be, like with interco it might be $5000, then you go get five people together for the money. one person takes the 5000 to interco and buys a shipment of tires at wholesale, then distrubes them to everyone. from then on, you can make any size purchase you want at wholesale prices. you essentially become a distributer
Shadow man 12-30-2001, 07:02 PM You just aint getting it right, thats not how it works. Did you go over to LS1.com and look at group purchases posts? No one handles YOUR money. It ONLY goes to the VENDOR. Parts are shipped to YOU by the vendor. There is NO middleman.
NothernAZxj 12-30-2001, 07:10 PM Im doing a group buy now on this site and others for the np231 kit and to get the best deal I am having all prepay me and I am buying them and redistributing them......I ahve seen it done as you say and if the vendor ships ita costs you more!....I ahve done several of these over the years
Shadow man 12-30-2001, 07:25 PM What I'm looking at first is it pays for their site. LS1.com has almost 25000 members. That has to be alot of bandwith! 2nd even with shipping it still comes out cheaper for me to get parts. It works for other sites, so I don't see why it would'nt work here. LS1tech.com has 2100 member and they do GP also.
High5 12-30-2001, 08:28 PM alright lets do a group buy of atlas transfercases to rusty's. $1500 per case. lets see how many people will jump in......i would. :D
the group buy is an interesting move. if there is something you want then post it. call the company and see how mayn you need to get whatever price. once you have that post it and see how many people bite. easy as that.:D
NothernAZxj 12-30-2001, 08:43 PM who wouldn't thats about 250.00 under his cost

hey you gotta start the bidding some where.:D
500 HORS 12-30-2001, 09:13 PM This aint a bad a idea, just put a section on the BB for " Group Buying Opportunities ".
Lance,
Maybe only grant access to the area for those with a :rainbow: star...
tigger4x 12-30-2001, 09:32 PM Sounds like we have some pretty good :idea:s here!! A diamond in the rough BUT a diamond none the less! :D I'd go for it!!
Just think of the possibilities ...
Interco for tires
Rockstomper for rims and beadlocks
Warn for recovery gear
 Yeah bay-bee!!
Monkeyboy 12-31-2001, 08:44 AM So wheres my 1500 dollar Atlas.
I want a twin stick 4to1 for a cj-7:D
MattS 12-31-2001, 09:16 AM LS1 has ALOT more members. The number of members here and ACTIVE members is way different. I was a member of the Impala SS board when I had my SS and saved tons of $$$ with GP's. The only problem here is that everyone has different rigs. When we did GP's it took at least 30 people to get a good discount. Finding 30 people that need exactly the same part here will be more difficult. It's a great idea though.
Does it matter what you have to buy a Warn winch or a group buy on Dana parts. I think this is a good idea. You always see post looking for the cheapest winch and other items. LET'S do it!
pick more common items
how many people need 297 u joints? a group purchase on spicer 297 replacement joints would fly. get the price low enough guys would buy a dozen each....
Monkeyboy 12-31-2001, 10:09 AM I'd rather see a group purchase on the CTM joints :D
Po' riggity 12-31-2001, 01:23 PM I think this would work out well, because we all know that lance only has reputable vendors on his site. It sounds killer.. I need a spool and some 4.56's for my D44 front :)
Scott :grinpimp:<><
Shadow man 12-31-2001, 01:33 PM I'll go with you guys on the CTM joints. I need four of em for a 60 and 70! OUCH

Count me in for 3 winches, I've got 3 company trucks coming and I have to spend $1,200 per truck(on after market add ons) to get the $1,000 Ford commercial rebate. I figure Linex and Warn will just about get me there.
Bratcher@Crawltech 01-01-2002, 05:10 PM Id have no problem aranging group buys. Just let me know what your interested in and ill see what kind of prices we could get and how many would need to get in on the group buy. Its then up to you to tell everyone else about the group buy.
Atlas II 3.8's for $1,500 is not a problem, we would just need 10 people in on the buy.
As far as how I work group buys its simple, once enough people have expressed interest in getting in on a buy, id start accepting payment. Once we recieved payment from the needed number of people id start shipping everything out. (credit cards would not be billed and checks/money orders would not be cashed untill the needed amount of orders has been reached and the parts have been shipped out)
If anybody is interested just email or call me and ill see what we can do.

That's a good idea. I could use two for my Dana44.
On something like the CTM joints I would think we (anybody that wants it) could get some deep discounts because they're so damn much to begin with.
Why not ask the retailers to give discounts for members ?
Like TLCA does.

Ozrunner 01-03-2002, 04:47 AM I'm more than happy to help out with any Oz group purchasing.

Add gears part to that and you have my shopping list, as well as an exellent list of VERY common parts that you will get multiple buyers for (most cross the "brand" lines....).
I'm definatly in for a new set of the CTMs, a Set of Warn Shafts, and a D44 and D60 ARB!!!
IronBenderII 01-03-2002, 11:26 AM Hey Oz, what are those tcase gears for?

Yep, Interco would be sure thing. Especially if we could mix and match tire sizes and types.

I'm in for a 3.8 Atlas for $1500. Stupid question maybe, but are they universal or do I have to know what trans it's going behind first? I'm getting ready to swap a 5.0 in my YJ and I haven't decided whether to go with a C4 or AOD.
Still wanting a Warn winch.
tigger4x 01-07-2002, 02:35 PM Winch - preferrably Warn - at least a 10k lb or better
38.5" - 40" tires - preferrably Interco
Yokes - 1 Ton
Shocks - preferrably Rancho
Leaf Springs - Rancho, Alcan, ???
Beadlocks / Rims - preferrably Rockstomper or Avalanche
If any of these come up EMAIL me and I'll get in on it!! :beer:THANKS:beer:
40_Bones 01-08-2002, 10:27 AM How about that Interco group buy?
