Does anybody know a good forum to get some help with a 97 cavalier charging problem. 2.2L

Two different batteries have been run right down after a 15 minute drive.

New alternator installed ..... last one was burning hot .... (maybe from working its ass off)

We were looking at the electrical schematics and the PCM box in the manual isn't where it's supposed to be ... so we can't check to see if that is causing it. Supposed to be under the airbox but nadda .

after a minute of driving .... the ABS light comes on..... then 10 minutes later the radio ..... then the gauges all go on and off and flicker on and off .... then the engine sputters and dies.

The battery isn't getting the charge from the alternator i assume.

where can we bring these questions .... or do you guys have any info ?

1 there was a recall on most cavaliers for the starter wiring where we put in a relay. See if that has been done. We have done it free for many cars that were out of warranty, btw.

2 ignition switch problems

3 check the volts from the back of the alt and reply.

I'll be the first to admit that I give some people here chit about giving the newbies a hard way to go for asking silly questions, and putting questions in the wrong forum. This one takes top prize though........burn his azz off and I'm going to kick back and enjoy. I see now I've been wrong to criticise you oldtimers for doing that. Some people just plain ole deserve to be flamed.

Does the valve cover have the words "Ecotech" on it?
I was driving a 2003 rental since some kid rearended me and it was getting the tailgate replaced.
I was really hard to start in about 26 below last week, and I do recomend having a block heater installed if you do live in a cold climate.

Actually the ecotech has been very trouble free for a GM motor

Since we now do cavalier tech here...Everyone thought saturns, and quad 4's were great the first copule years! :flipoff2:

And you can take the fuckuptech's oil filter location and shove it directly up GM's ASS!

Dealership techs (me) were not impressed with early quad 4s. I have no saturn experience so I won't comment on that.

You are right about he oil filter.
