What is the best way to get the sending unit out of an EB tank.
would it be easier to pull the tank or can I get it from the bottom pretty good.
What products or methods does any one suggest for cleaning the inside of the tank?

depending upon what you are actually cleaning out of the tank determines what you are using. IMO if it is rust or other corrosion then replace the tank. if just crud from bad gas then any sort of organic solvent i.e. acetone, alcohol, mineral spirits, brake carb cleaner. etc should help dissolve the smaller deposits & should allow you to dump them out of either the filler or sending unit hole but plan to drop the tank is the easiest way

First run that sucker dry, sumbitch is heavy when you're trying to balance it and it's sloshing around.
When you have it out (surely you can figure it out) The sending unit is held in place with a tensioning lockring. I used a big set of channelocks to turn it out (using a screwdriver and hammer will work too, but be careful, and work your way around the ring, so's not to deform it. Once you have that ring out, the sending unit will lift right off. Clean that interface and the O-ring REALLY fawkin good before putting it back together, or it will leak. Also, when you put it back in, don't pinch off the sending unit wires (I did, and it leaked, had to weld up the holes, another dumb story) I 're-worked' my strap for the rear tank, and raised it up nearly the full 2" when I installed my body lift, sure is nice having that extra ground clearance...

Take the tank to a radiator shop and have them clean it in thier tank, it comes out spotless.

what should i expect to pay for a rad shop to do it?
I know it is kind of arbitrary, since i am not near u but just a round figure or a ball park

I had a 45 gallon tank for my 78 cleaned. They also patched a hole on the top of it. Total cost was around 90 bux. They had it back to me within 1 day. They could have also sealed the inside of it for another $90 if I wanted it, but I decided against it.
