: It started simple...hunting a pig

Okay, I had a few bone stock CJs and the last one I had was a dog...auto, six, quadra something, and beat. I took it hunting pigs and then it let me down, a few times. So, without much cash I buy an FJ40, V8, lifted...and all ready to get it on! LOL, HaHa...mucho $$$ later, I do in fact have a rock solid truck. So then, I move from the pig hunting in CA to the East Coast. So now I am back to the beaches fishing blues and striped bass, yes still killing and eating, but I don't need the sprung, lifted, reversed, for rocks.

So, I am thinking of dropping it down and just keeping the reverse shackles, which I think will give me the nice ride w/o all the lift. But I like the soft Caddie ride I have now and don't want to drop it and get a hard ride, which I stared out with. I do want to go lower b/c the hight is a bit much for the streets of NYC.

Any one done this before...can suggest a method...custom or kit...I only have a driveway and limited tools...I know you all go up most of the time, but any hints on going lower.

Joe.

If the spring perches are still on your housings from being sprung under, then go ahead and put them below the axle again. Just be sure to check your steering linkage set-up when doing this. Im assuming you used stock fj40 springs which is where you get the nice(soft) ride from. So you will basically have the same ride, just lower. Also keep the shackle reversal kit, its a great improvement even spring under. Worst case you can maybe trade your axles for someone who wants to go spring over.
