I have done a search and came up with a whole lot of nothing. There is quite a bit of theory and impractical guessing and I can't decipher what is what. I liken myself to be on the total opposite end of the stick as the guy in the "GODOFSUSPENSION" thread.

Here is what I am working with currently. Don't laugh too hard cuz I bought it kinda fawked up. The previous idiot did an SOA w/ 4" blocks, 3 thick leaf Bogger(?) springs, and a 3" body lift just to get it to clear the OLDS 455 he stuffed in it and still only cleared the valve covers by about 1".:barf: I H8 BLOCKS!! It also rides like a brick and doesn't flex for squat. So I did a custom shackle reversal by cutting out the bottom of the shackle mount and welded up 3/16" flat stock from the outer top edge of the mount to the outer top edge of the frame. I also dropped the front mounting holes of the leaf springs about 2 1/2". This overcame the 3/4" rear end sag and pushed the rear end up 1/2" over level and without the blocks.

I am going to be removing the body lift and replacing it with 4" custom fabbed body lift towers. I would like to run with 38" - 39.5" tires. The axle swap will be going up to DANA60 front and CORP14 rear with 4:56 gears and ride on 16" wheels. What kind of spring set up(w/ or w/o custom shackles?) do I need to run in order to get good clearance and not shread the $$$ tires and still flex enough to GET IT:question:

A lot of people are going to come back and say I should run with a coiled front and a 1/4 eliptic & 4 link rear. It sounds BAD A$$ but the budget says not now!! :( I just need to get up and on the road/trail and enjoy my :jeep:

A BIG THANKS & A BIG  UPFRONT FOR TAKING THE TIME OUT TO CHECK THIS OUT!! I would greatly appreciate your input and am willing to learn if someone has the time to teach. Thanks again! Keith a.k.a.

i say run a waggy 44044 spring in a springover setup. alot of people are running these springs on toy's, jeeps, etc. because they flex good. they are a lift spring for the waggy so it will be a bolt on affair. used in a spring over with the other plans you have you should be able to run the tires you want. i personally say skip your body lift and just cut the fenders if possible. this will be easier and will help keep your center of gravety low. also are you sure you want to run 16" rims? there are not as many tire sizes for the 16" rims. just run 15's and grind the d60 caliper to fit them. the 15's will fit the 14bolt drums with no prob's. hope this helps.:D

Hey, brian, I ended up having lotsa room with jus the stock 7 leaf waggy springs, in spring over config, with hummer tires, on 16.5x10 rims fit fine, no rubbing, and TONS of flex!!! He has the same post in the jeep section, I replied there.

HIGH5 ... thanks for the input. Seems this may be the concensus of running the 44044s. JSLAMERMAN told me the same thing about the Waggie springs.

About the 16" rims... IMHO the calipers were made to a certain spec. and I am not too hot on altering their integrity. So, if I had to choose between the 16" and the 16.5" rims which would be a better choice? I am running the FULL SIZE Cherokee and will be airing down quite a bit for the trails. I would like to avoid losing the bead as I have heard tends to happen on the 16.5"s.

About the Center of Gravity issue... I am highly considering chopping the top off and running a custom canvas top over the cage I'll be putting in. With the heavier and wider DANA60 and CORP14 and losing the top end weight, how do you think the COG will be affected?

THANKS GUYS!! Keith
