do you actualy ever provide any "tech" on this board or just run around like you know it all and bash everyone?

Mark D

Are those flaps considered *bling*?

Or are they considered *bling bling*?

Which I think logically leads to the next two questions;

Because there are two of them, should they be refered to as *bling bling*

Or should they be refered to as *bling bling bling bling*

How does the definition of the term *bling* differ from the definition of the term *bling bling*?

man people on this board get out of control about things, i didn't say this was the coolest idea but i think it's preatty neat and considering it onley cost me about 30 buck, i'm sorry for everyone who thinks this is hardcore tech but i was mearly just to show my gay idea of how to keep cops off, my ass.
i wouldn't run mudflaps cause i think they look:rainbow: but i thoough if i was going to run them might as well look stupid, cause i don't like tme but i don't like forking over money all the time either so i had to settle for something.

The quick disconnect is a really cool idea. The main thing IMHO that makes it look bad is how excessively wide the mudflaps are. If there was about 5" less width on the inner side of each one, it would look a little better. But cutting down the ones with writing on them would look dumb too...... so I'd just leave it as is vs. buying skinnier ones.

And all of the people that think its :rainbow: to care what the cops think, give me a freakin break. Hey check me out, I think I'm a hardass because I'd rather get tickets all the time than bow down to the man

All joking aside, I think it was a clever idea you came up with.

I disagreed with where you originally posted it, and that's the only reason I made my original comment, but hey I'm sure we've all made mistakes at some point.

Anyway, if I could make one suggestion, I would go with the Big Rig flaps that have the silhouette of the woman on them. That would make me laugh so hard I'd probably end up in the ditch.

Thats true.. But when I said what I did, It sounded to me like you were running a stock TJ link setup, in which you need your trackbars.. so STFU.. Anyway.. If you've been pulled over, flaps are a good idea I suppose.

Man, then you must have done something to piss the cops off up there.. I live in Lake Arrowhead and go to Big bear just about every other weekend now for wheelin, at least until I decided to work on the jeep, and in the almost 5 years Ive had my jeep, 4 of which I didn't have any flares, and cut flat fenders or front tube fenders, I never once got a ticket for my tires sticking out too far.

well i'm all about street driven off road trucks, trailered trucks are not hardcore, if you know you have a way to get home there is no point in leaving.

glad to see you found a way to piss of the police. now all you need is a sticker that says "i would like to thank the california taxpayers for electing officials that make me put items such as these ugly mud flaps on my jeep"

now lets talk about the front end....thats legal in cali?

man you just gave me the idea for the next sticker to go on my jeep, as far as for the front it's still not legal, last night i still got pulled over on sunrise, didn't get ticked but he said"these flaps just aren;t going to do it"and then i said man it's always something different, and then he proceded to tell me if he saw me again on the road tongiht that he was going to tow my shit, and i laughed, and then left.

I lived in Cali with my Yota, and got pulled over alot. The law out there in 95-99 said that the wheelwell/mudflap had to cover 1/2 of the tire, across the top edge. This makes alot of factory stock vehicles illegal, but I think it has to do with the cops' willingness to enforce the stupid law. Yes, the flaps look:rainbow: but what do you do? Especially bein full width, dude has to do what he can to be able to go to Fat Burger and back without gettin popped. My lady don't like me gettin pulled over, as I'm sure most of yours don't either.

I'd love to see the report he turns in for that and the bogus excuse for towing a vehicle at the expense of tax payers. If a cop tells me that I'll make sure he knows to start looking for another job in mall security.
Every cop I've talk to about my rig has been totally cool, I'm not full width but wider than normal, but I know there are cops whom think they are above the law and these fawkers need to be delt with and put back in their place, 'to serve and protect' not 'to intimidate'.

Why not save your old, wide tires and cut them up to use them as additions to the width of your flare?

Obviously it won't look pretty, but I think that it will more than do the job.

baahahaha.. YEAH. :D

get ahold of some free 44's or whatever is Larger/wider than your tire.

cut out the inside wall and 1/4 of the bottom. screw an el/cheapo hubcap to the tire

then dzuze(sp?) fasten them to the outside of your rig with your real wheel/tire assy INSIDE them. LOL. personally i think thats a cool fawkin idea!!! hahaha

Your never going to keep them happy any other way.

edit: BTW.. your setup looks VERY clean and functional for what you are trying to do.

You just haven't run into the CHP cop I did. I wasn't doing anything wrong. His wife must have chewed his ass out before going to work, and I was the first one he saw. I had a choice on the ticket. I could pay $50 if I put mud flaps on, or skip the flaps and pay $95. I went for the $95 and hope I don't see that cop again. He was a dick.

As for the suspension thing. It's not a big deal, but that thread was about different lifts. I said I had the LCG kit, and even posted a pic of it. That's why I ragged on you. Not a big deal anyway..:flipoff2:

Fawk yeah....I love to see someone else running the big wide ugly flaps. I got them too buddy and i got pretty much the same disconnect too. After being pulled over 14 times (no joke) and 6 fix-it-tickets the last cop said "i pulled you over 3 times for no flaps already and i aint buying your excuse no more.....u my friend are going to court" i swear he said that. So on Feb. 25th I gotta go to court, but dont feel bad about the ugly flaps dude because they cosmedically rape the look of my toyota with 40's too.

Mark D

If the police where you are are anything like where I am, I think I understand their problem with your mud flaps.

Here, police don't care how far out your tires stick on a nice dry day. However, as soon as there is water on the road, and your tires kick-up road spray, they'll pull you over and hand out tickets.

I'm assuming that is the problem they have with your tires and lack of flaps.

So, what I was suggesting is create something that will have the same effect that an extra wide aftermarket fender flare has (ie. cover your wheels up).

Since you are running 37" SSRs, I'm going to guess that your tread width is 11"? It seems that in your first picture, half of that wheel is exposed. So, make something that is 6" wide that can be shaped to the contour of your fender flares and attach it so it extends out from your wheelwells.

I suggested cutting up old tires, because they are cheap and the rubber is durable.

Your location says it all. Citrus Heights cop's are dicks. I remember when C.H. first became a city. They got their own cops and boy they act like they got something to prove. One time my lady was following me to my house and the punks pulled her over because they said she tailgating me. What the fawk ever. For all who don't know this area, Sunrise and Greenback area in C.H. use to be a big cruising area on Friday and Saturaday night's. You would see cars pulled over by the PO-PO all over the place. I am not sure if it is still like that but that area is covered w/ the Fuzz. I understand why you need your mud flaps and yes they are :rainbow:. Maybe you need to move out of that cop infested area or quit cruising the Sunrise mall :flipoff2:. My .02 cents.

P.S. I don't dislike cops, I just dislike the ones who abuse their authority.

I dont think they would look so bad if they werent so huge.It just has to cover the width of the tread.I bought one that size and cut it in half.I also made quick disconnect brackets.

I think mud flaps are gay too but I dont need a cop lookin my truck over for other things while he has got me pulled over for no flaps. So I run them:D
