The BroncoII has NEVER had a solid front axle. It has always been TTB front. The solid front axle is a popular swap, but it is not, nor ever was a factory option.

Sounds like someone needs to crawl under one and have a look for themselves.

ps. 80-whatever's to 96 (I think) Explorers and Rangers used a similar suspension setup.

that is a 4wd Twin Traction Beam front end introduced in 1980
it is based on ford 2wd Twin I Beam design the goes back to 1966
both are Independent design
a solid front would look more like the rear axle in his bronco II

The TTB is a mixed blend between an SFA and a SLA(IFS) suspension. It is much stronger than the standard SLA suspension. Since you said it's an 84, it will have a D28 TTB, which is pretty weak, and would be better off upgrading to a D35 TTB from a 89-92 Ranger w/ 4.0l(also came with 8.8), from 93 to 98, they were all D35 if I remember correctly.

Your right from the beginning to the end of time no matter what his dreams are.. Bronco II's were a good platform that Ford chose to stick crappy drivetrain components(Dana 28/7.5 axles) into..

I love mine though, although like Nobody I had to modify it to the specs it should have came with in the 1st place.. ;) :flipoff2:

Exploders came with the TTB until 1994, and came out with SLA IFS in 1995. The new Exploders are fugly.
