Read the write up on Izook. I did not have a 2 inch hole saw so I cut open my heater box with a dremel tool. Of course I cut my radio antenna in half. Anyway the heater works much better. JCC

Ya, I did the cleaning out thing too, but it was more to stop being hit by shite coming out of the vents when I turned it on.:D

The single best thing that worked for me, was to duct tape the plastic hoses back together that I discovered had split/come undone at the connections, inside the dash.

The other was to take the dogleg bend out of the rod that is supposed to push the flap up and direct air into the defrost vents, instead of the lowers.

The rod is actually made of bubble gum, and is too weak to keep the flap up. Bending it straight gives it a little more leverage on the linkage.

It's a major PITA but you need to pull the whole heater box out, open up the box, & clean it all out in there. It full of chit I guarentee.;)

wait a minute... are you supposed to get hot air out of the vents inside the dash??? I thought hot air only came outa the defrost vents and the bottom vent...

:D

".....the plastic hoses.... inside the dash."

no, you thought right- heat is only *supposed* to come out the two windshield vents and the two door window vents (and the floor vents)

I didn't say vents inside the dash, but hoses. If the hose connections split or come apart, then that hot air gets blown into the dash itself, not out to the windows like it's supposed to. :D

Living in the land of mud I realized it doesnt take long to clog it up again with mud running down the vent in front of the windsheild. Once I clean it out i cut up a magnetic sign (the ones made for your door) and stick it on. When Im not on the trail I take it off for heat, in the summer I just leave it on.

:D that's almost exactly what I did. I cut out a piece of lexan in the shape of the grill, just a little larger. Then glued on stips of magnetic material all around the perimeter.

Also added a butterfly toggle bolt in the centre, that I put down through the middle slot and turn 180° (as a back up so I don't have it fly off at highway speeds.)

my problem was the damn inckage on the passanger side would not move when i moved the selector, i ahve to reach over and do it by hand.
Also of the 3 settings i alwys pushed it right to 3 and it barly blew anything out. It never even occured to me to try the other 2 settings lol. BUt 1 and 2 work, 3 doesn;t. I forget what part i was told to change to fix that, it;s a relay of sorts

We finally have the chance for a Newb to post some serious heater tech and he forgets the secret  Come on, don't be a tease :D

Ahh,...you guys are lucky...unlike thier domestic counterparts the switches & such on foreign vehicles are made to come apart to be repaired.:D
You'll have to pull out that plate with all the sliders on it. Then unhook the fan speed selector switch. The switch is just snapped together. Open up the switch (don't loose any of those little pieces!) Clean up all the pieces with electrical contact cleaner or quick drying dregreaser. Then lube up the selector contacts with dielelctric grease. Should work perfect now :D
Good low tech winter project;)

After I took my heater out the second time, I decided to try putting a screen under the vent. It's been 2 years and the heater still blows as well as the day I cleaned it.:D

does suzuki fan speeds use resistor pack? Subarus were famous for wire coil resistors burning thru.

But did you mod your Fan assembly so that you dont have to disconnect the heater core to get fan assembly out?

Yeah it has a couple loops of resistance wire one longer than the other. It's mounted to the blower housing. All the ones I've found were not burned out though.

Is that some heavy duty S.S. screen or just some regular window screen???

here is the info that was given to me :D

Blower motor switch....
If you owned the car new (like I did!) three speeds and the third blew annoyingly hard.
If you have heat and no obstruction and the fan runs at one speed...you just need the switch!!
You can get it for $33 us at:

Uh, How u do dat?? Feeling a little stupid today and my FSM is still in the mail form Zukboyz, but how dio you get the assembly out without disconnecting the heater core. I'd love to put the screen in mine to keep the spring oak droppings out, they don't taste very good when they blow out the vents while your cruisin down the road.

It's thicker than window screen but I have no idea what it is. I just had it laying around.

Uh, no mods are required to pull my fan out. I have a feeling your talking about the heater itself tho. In which case, I'm hoping I don't have to pull that for a long time.:D

I assumed you pulled the whole heater out to put in the screen. How'd you get it in there?? That's why I asked about the heater core mod, because I was able to pull the blower motor before without doing anything but taking out it's bolts and pulling it out the side.

jones

Yup, I pulled the whole heater and the top vent, siliconed the screen up there, and threw it back together.:D

well i had to first pull it out wit core in it then cut all offending plastic that held it in damn i shoulda have done that screen thing when ihad it out oh well not much of a hassle for me now but those damn T45 (or what ever size) bolts help lower the steerin shaft when takin out the dash hahah cracked my windsheild when i took it out the first time I did all that when i was bord and found out engine was dead (crank Sheared)
