It's almost stock. Mods so far are include 2" body lift, HD Rover springs, 235/85 R 16 MT's, Diff guards, roof rack w/ cibie lights. Currently I'm having my TMAX winch installed.

I'm new to the defender 90 world, just picked mine up and dropped it at my parents house until capital one sends me the title...
Parked behind it is the fj40 my brother and i built on 39.5's and behind that is my old yj that i sold to my brother after i got married... the defender is going to see some minor upgrades but nothing serious for awhile...

Hey, just picked up this beast a few weeks ago from Florida(long drive let me ell ya). Currently own a lifted and regularly wheeled Cherokee that is up for sale.
This is my all time fave truck, thought I'd intro myself and my rig, as I like this site with all the info present.
I;ve been doing TONS of research on these trucks, I have read rangerovers.net from page to page, and wanna learn more.
1990 Range Rover Classic SWB
Since I have always had a soft spot for the Older classic Short wheel base range rovers I got one. There is lots to come in terms of modifications.
This is a florida one that never left the mall parking lots..

It is fairly stock minus the ARB bumper and Hella lights.

Ok, here are the pics of my first Land Rover, a 91 Disco that i bought while in Uganda, and couldn't take back to the US with me. And my 77 SIII that i currently have, which i also bought in Uganda, had shipped to Zimbabwe, and then here to good old NC. SIII had its engine rebuilt and a few mods done to it around 3years/10000+- miles ago. 2.5L cam. Pierce manifold with 32/36 Weber, header & cherybomb, elect ignition, elect fan, K&N air filter, spin on filter conversion, .60 over pistons, elect fuel pump, 90 hard top and canvas bikini top with fume curtain, 32in BFG Track Edge (no longer made :( ), 90 windows.

Lurked around for awhile and finally decided to register. My 1st an only rover so far...

Here is a couple of pics of my special order '03 V8 D2.
Quick rundown, it has 33" MTR's (soon to be running 35" TrXus) on MT classic locks with custom centres (gives 4" wider track), 4" lift, Edelbrock remote reservoir shocks 12.75" travel, 13" travel rear airbags with custom spacer blocks & top plate (made by me), custom sliders (made by me), custom rear bar (made by me but will be making a better 1 soon), rear 1/4 cut, ARB Sahara bar & winch, leather interior with DVD, 110L Waeco fridge/freezer, dual battery (made by me), custom exhaust & extractors (made by me).

I am (when time permits) going to be making a fr. bar & bash plate, diff guards, belly plate & fuel guard.
Unfortunately my Disco has had to wait to be finished as I am just way too busy building customers 4wd's.

What size boggers, which diff/portal ratio, and have you done anything to reinforce the driveline?

Looking good, just curious what, if anything, needs to be done to make the axles hold up.

hey Christer - Petal runs 5.99's, tyres are 39.5x18 boggers on Stazworks double beadlocks, Portal Tek stub axles for the disc conversions running landrover 5 stud pattern, pre-rigged for CTIS..... and a little bit of Flyingspanners magic to keep it all spinning in the right direction

did ok at Ladoga in the proto class this year..

fingers crossed next years car is gonna be something a little groovey compared to Petal though :D

Holy crap that is some deep water!

LS1's with a manual trans love water, it never misses a beat - anything up to about 6 feet and we dont slow down, deeper than that gets a bit scary, the cars called Mouse. Shes was scratch built by a bunch of us in a barn for Baltic and Russian Trophy Raids. Ladoga was the shake down test - the tough stuff comes later in the year :smokin:

I must say Im impressed. My Jeep hates the water, one run in the lake and only half way up the doors and the tranny was toast. Nice build, I like the fact it was built in a barn!

Thanks, I had both sway bars connected in those shots, so I finally got some sway bar disconnects for the front and disconnected the rear, WAY better articulation, but sways bigtime just on a moderate trail.

Here's mine. 1968 109" series 2a. Plan is for full front and rear 4 link suspension, supported by airbags mounted halfway up the lower link arms. Drivetrain will probably consist of a 96' or newer 4.3 liter Chevy Vortec (for reliability and drivability), TH700R4 auto trans and a NP205 with a NorthWest FabWorks BlackBox ( http://www.northwestfab.com/index.htm ) in between. Dana 60 HD in the rear, Dana 60 in the front, all set up for Spicer 1410 U-Joints. Haven't decided on axle ratios yet, although with the reduction box it won't matter that much. Tire size will be around 37" - 40" inches. note: How do I post a pic? Do I have to buy a membership?

OK. I've got my airbags, and all the chassis and axle mounts are completed. just have to build the rediculously complicated airbag frames and guides. I love this 109". All stock 10 spline stuff. I'll be lowering it down and running some 33s when money allows. 3.54s and 35s aren't a great combo but it does decent.

I agree. Nice looking truck, except for what the PO did to the fender wells. Shouyld be a nice rig for you with the 5 speed and 4.0 combination.

theres probably a sticky for this somewhere but here goes.
bring up the picure full size on facebook, right click on it and select properties, then using the left mouse highlight all of the web link www... etc, then using the right mouse select copy, come back here type your message then click the button above the message typing screen with a picture of a mountain and sun on it, delete anything that appears in the pop up type box, and right click in the box and select paste, thats it your done.
I've done this with other sites never facebook, so long as the mods here dont have any issues with it, should work.

it is light, nimble and still great fun even after ten years...

~1400kg kerb weight (as built with an LT95 transmission, it now has the lighter LT77 / LT230 combination), Quaife ATB in rear axle. Fox 12" x 2.0" Emulsion dampers custom valved by prolinx with stock linkage front and rear. The engine is a 3.9 Rover with twin SU carbs but that will soon change to EFi.

I love Bowlers. They're great trucks for dual-purpose use. Nice rig.

That is more like it...in that picture it had 10" DeCarbon dampers with pin mountings at each end. Stock suspension linkage and narrow radius arms (i.e. all early-spec linkages). The springs were 133lb/in front and white/white progressive rears. It flexes a bit more now it has the 12" Fox dampers but rides better on the road / fast tracks too.

I had thought about 3-link or 4-link at the front but the car seems to be agile enough. I keep missing opportunities to RTI it, be curious to see what it ramps to!

The idea behind it's low-key appearance is so it does not draw unneccesary attention when out green laning - there are too many laners in the UK who drive trucks which look like they have been taken from the mad max set - not for me I'm afraid - folks see this and dismiss it as an odd-looking rag-top Land Rover!

No worries about Rhandirmwyn, it was too wet to get up to much laning although I did recce a few by Paxton's Tower and Trap.

rebuilt engine
Scrapiron bumper + 11500lb winch
FirstFour rocksliders mounting directly to the chassis
proper lift (2-3") though Scrapiron springs in the front, progressive but HD Dobinsons in the rear (OME when I go extremely loaded), Koni's all around, castor corrected though swivel redrilling.
BFG Muds 235/85 on 16" Wolf rims.

Nothing fancy, but properly reliable vehicle, capable off-road, loads of fun and pretty much my dream car :smokin:

Hi, fairly new here (lurk a bit) but here's my Series 3 V8 SWB

Took me about 6 months to build from a very sorry state, stripped to chassis and built up from there. Fairly standard besides the 3.9 rover V8 and RR diffs. I also removed the centre bulkhead and fitted a rollbar.

15/38.5-16 boggers with bead locks, more dents and scratches, and many many days full of fun.

Engine (3.9 hi-compression) and gearboxes from -97 discovery, disc brakes (toyota hj-6x calipers and vented discs) front and rear. 7.55 gears now in the axles.

Alota' people use 'em here in Europe. It's basically just a new layer of rubber glued unto old tires. In the dirt nothing can stop 'em, just like Dirtbike tires

These are no Volvo portals! These are the new bolt-on portals developed and build by Wolfgang Tibus (www.killeraxles.com).
Together with the CTIS they´ll sure enough make a fine expedition truck! :-)

different looking buggy, with all the effort you've gone to i hope its got more travel then that:flipoff2:

for the events that my buggy will be used for the 12" coilovers "should" be sufficient, if not can swap in 14's,but the 12's came along at a price i couldnt refuse & on my D90 it had 12" shocks & it was fine

the front is growing on me, its more setup for pushing against trees & other imovable objects,

I have some 12" or 14" rear fox shocks that I have yet to install. I am also debating between dana44's and just building the rover axles that I have. I will eventually go to 33's or 235/85r16's.

The FC will always remain my offroad machine. The station wagon is quite rare here so will be restored and limited to club use. The basic 88 will have to wait - it is very original and will be used as a guide to restore the other one and then either restored itself or sold on to a restorer.

My newest project and offroad toy! An 84 110 w/ a 300tdi and soft top. Running full rovertym custom suspension with remote reservoir OME shocks. Built Eaton rear with Detroit and Dana 60 front with Detroit. LT230 transfer case with part time conversion, Hydro assist, 37 inch BFG M/T's, and hummer wheels :D

I haven't been reading this forum much lately. I reckoned it was time I put an updated picture of my 110 up here.

Its a 1989 110 Special Vehicles Build for an Electric Utility Company in the UK, the 200TDi engine was retro-fitted not long before I bought it over 10years ago. It was built around a heavy duty chassis with uprated suspension and Quaife rear LSD. Its had several different suspension set ups in my ownership and is currently on +2" springs and Terrafirma Big Bore Expedition dampers with drop turrets on the front and Discovery 2 isolators. Tyres are BFG MTs 255/85x16s. Sills are obvious hefty box section galv steel and theres a steel steering guard as well as QT diff guards front and rear. The raised air intake goes through the bonnet direct to the airbox for symplicity as it needs to work due to my regular river crossings. The roll cage was custom built by a local blacksmith and has 3 internal hoops, the B post hoop is double cross braced and theres a removable brace behind the second row seats. The NAS spec roofrack is bolted through the roof with thick spacers. Inside is fairly basic, 4 vinyl retrimmed seats, the back ones being highbacks from Exmoor Trim. Theres a T-Max twinpump compressor onboard and a few extra electric outlets etc. Winch is a T-Max one on a bikini mount and military spec bumper. Extra lights front and back are all cheap versions as they get broken frequently.
