Here are some images are of my '90 RR on the way to the Black Rock Desert, NV; then with some problems in the Black Rock; and one wheeling Holy Cross, CO.

Got a total lift of about 8", 4:11 gears, ARB locker in rear, TrueTrack in front, on-board welder, 6 sets of Hellas if you count my rock lights, 4.6 L with racing cam and Eddlebrock timing chain, LT 230 t-case, 24-spline axles, heavy duty CVs, double-nuckle drive lines, etc...It get's me places...

Hello everyone, I am new to the forum. I have heard a lot of good things about Pirate4x4 so I thought "What the Hell!" Here is a picture of my 1996 Defender 300TDI. I will have a lot of questions to follow, hope we can exchange ideas!

I bought this Disco bone stock in March with a blown head gasket. I finally had the time to work on it and got it back together this week. I picked up the ARB and wheels/tires locally. Waiting for my Terra Firma lift kit as it obviously needs it.

Hi, I'm not a new member here, but I've switched sides.
I traded my 1982 C-j8 thing to this cat from 4-locked Films for my 1994 D1. Driving style has been adjusted per manufacturer instructions regarding off road driving

Climbing Steep Slopes

...If the vehicle is unable to complete a climb...It must be reversed downhill to the foot of the slope...When the vehicle is back on level ground or where traction can be regained, a FASTER APPROACH MAY ENABLE THE HILL TO BE CLIMBED.

How can you not enjoy driving a vehicle that is built to drive hard.

I've been using that approach here in the mud and snow, so far so good. It's not a crawler but it get s me out to the woods to shoot the AR more conveniently than the Ole' trailer Queen did.
The old wheeling ways are fun too and I didn't end up feeling like I've downgraded, sure I can't roll over boulders and shit but I can run the fun trails like Naches also I can drive to work when it snows, the heater f'n cranks! There's an Old Man Emu lift, Warn 9000 Winch, Those Les Schwab tires they push on everyone, I like em Load rang E holy crap thats a sidewall. LOL
Big bumper, Lights (friggin torches!) 3.9 that needed a little tune up and fluid changes, now runs suwheet! Heck I even got 15mpg on the Highway!

just bought this about a month ago. I love it. not sure which direction its going yet. i need some lift, 16" wheels and tires.

already converted to coils. paid $5000. everything works pretty good. knock on wood.

it has bilstien shocks and some coil spring conversion kit on it. rids rough in town but smooth off-road and on the highway.

poser picture.

JC Whitney cheapo flares and thanks!! I really love the look of them and all of the flares were 50-60 bucks which is a WHOLE LOT less than the rover flares and these you can cut to whatever size tire well you want.

Noooo!
don't ruin a lovely early 2-door - put stock wheels and tyres on it and ebay it in the UK for someone to restore then spend the money on a Ninety or similar.

How much work have you done to change it from stock besides the cut arches? I might be interested in buying it....PM me if you are interested in discussing...

Wow. Some cool rigs here.

I've got a '57 SWB with Toyota pickup running gear. It is equipped with a EFI 22RE, a short iron cased toy 5 spd, 5:1 t-case, factory Toyota electric lockers and longfield front axles. Other than that it is a sprung over Rover.

Some say it's sacrilege to cut up a rover. I say first, the only thing I really cut was the front fenders. Second, this truck was sitting in dirt and would have remained there until it rotted if I hadn't come along.

Awesome Rover!! I remember reading an online article on it. Fantastic!

What are those upgrades you speak of?

The upgrades: Since the article was written I have installed a front locker as well as Longfield chromo axles. I removed the locking hubs from the front and installed drive plates from a FJ80. Th locking hubs would scrape on rocks and unlock themselves. I also installed a iron cased 5 speed trans from an early model Toyota pickup. It's about 5 inches shorter. Which means my 14" rear driveshaft grew to 19". No more wasting CVs in the rear shaft. I've also gone through the electronics and made it more "trail friendly". I was on the Rubicon one winter evening when it was record low temps (-25F) and the stock ignition switch failed after my passenger kicked it while getting in. It took us 45 minutes to diagnose it and another 10 to bypass it, while we were freezing to death. So some of the "Rover-ness" has been traded for reliability.

I love Rovers, at least the idea of Rovers. But I think I like Toyotas engineering more!!!

It's a 1965 109". It was all original when I got it. Now it has a 3.4 diesel and 4speed out of a LandCruiser, dual E-locked 80Series axles, Bilstein 5125's, rear springs up front, SOA and sitting on 33" Km2's.

At the moment I'm collecting the parts for a PAS conversion and highsteer using HellFire fabworks knuckles and arms, Ruffstuffs Heims and 1.5" dom tube, P38 pasbox and defender steering column.
When this is fitted it's time for some 35-12.5 Creepies on beadlock rims.. No point fitting them now, wouldn't be able to turn the steering wheel.....

'96 300TDi Discovery - bought just over 2 years ago, ran it standard for a year, then got the bug... Aim is to improve its off-road capability, while retaining enough on-road capability to keep it road-legal.

Just after purchase:
http://i.imgur.com/OoVuM.jpg

A 2" lift kit and a set of 275/65/16 tyres on steel modulars followed:
http://i.imgur.com/LRmFT.jpg

Been taking it out trialling with the local 4x4 club:
http://i.imgur.com/IAsc0.jpg

And of course it's great in the winter!
http://i.imgur.com/FNpVk.jpg

Took it off the road 9 months ago, to tend to a borked rear diff, and some chassis rot. Double-cranked trailing arms, winch bumper (winch still to be sourced!) and new box-section sills also fitted...
Rebuilt rear axle:
http://i.imgur.com/wDvbLl.jpg
And rear suspension overhauled:
http://i.imgur.com/Dh3Eol.jpg
New front body mounts manufactured (old ones dissolved to nothing!)
http://i.imgur.com/HiaCAl.jpg
And new front sill-to-body mounts:
http://i.imgur.com/DvLqal.jpg

And finally back on the road, MOT'd and taxed!
http://i.imgur.com/YNN3yl.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/YDMLpl.jpg

Still running open diffs, plans for 2012 include a rear locker, and bobtail/pickup conversion. Going to be a drivable work in progress!

New here. Always wanted a Range Rover. 96 P38. I really wanted an 87 classic, got tired of looking for a decent one. http://img.tapatalk.com/425762b5-67b7-c74b.jpg

It's a 4.0 SE, but the intake says 4.6 on it. Couldn't get the air suspension to do anything, so I crawled under it today to figure out what's doing... and someone beat me to pulling the air junk. Also, I suspect that I'll never have to worry about rust, there's a good coat of oil on everything underneath. The driver's side blows hot air, passenger side blows cool air. I feel like a human Mc DLT. Heard it could be the temp sensor under the glovebox, but could be a bad actuator on the vent selector? The HVAC head unit shows funny numbers, hopefully I'll find that it's just dirty connectors. It's a little finicky after a restart, needs some gas otherwise it will quit on me. Could be a vacuum issue?

The plan is for 2 inch springs, some A/T tires, roof rack, some lights, better bumpers and relocate the spare tire and make some usable space under that cargo area.

Had more than a few Land Rovers in the last 11 years or so (started age 16) at least one of everything up to the Disco II, and have managed to drive everything up to the Evoque.

The current collection consists of a IIB Forward Control (in bits) a One Ton Series III (in bits) a 107" Series I (in bits) a 101 (mostly in bits) along with these 3.

First up is 'The Disco'. It's a 95 300 Tdi Auto, rapidly approaching 250k.
I never really cared much for Discos (or indeed diesels) until I got this car, since then it's converted me, and won more than a little of my affections due to its ability to take all the abuse I throw at it, and just keep going.

http://i460.photobucket.com/albums/qq328/DasLandRoverMan/3dca5318.jpg

Next up is my 'Bitsa' 110, it's mostly from 1985, running a 300 Tdi and R380 that were liberated from another Disco. It also takes a lot of abuse, seen here working with a Series II on the trailer.
http://i460.photobucket.com/albums/qq328/DasLandRoverMan/8ddffb3c.jpg

Then we have my wifes 110, a fairly recent rebuild/refurb we've owned it for about 4 years. It was originally red with a 3.5 V8 and a manual box, which I converted to a 4.2 with auto from an RRC. With the price of fuel going up, and 8-9mpg meaning it saw less and less use, along with various other issues meant it got a diesel conversion, some fresh body panels, and a colour change.
Now running a 3.5 litre Mazda diesel engine with ZF auto box, and Borg Warner transfer box.

http://i460.photobucket.com/albums/qq328/DasLandRoverMan/acf8426f.jpg

That's all to start with, might post up some of the others I've had if I can find the pictures.

I guess so!

A vid of the suspension working:

http://youtu.be/S06dsW18934

What did you do suspension wise to get it to flex like that?

I just got a terrafirma 3" with 2" longer shocks what would I need to swap disconnect and or replace to get it to move.

Also what size tires are you running I am looking at duratracs 275/65/18 but would prefer a smidge skinnier.

Its got a custom 4 link rear end, custom front arms with raised shock towers. 11' fox in the rear and 12s up front with no swaybars 5' custom coils. The tires are a 33s

Is this a genuine station wagon or a replica. If genuine has it the original interior - eg cabin lining, four individual seats etc. If so can you put up some pics of the interior.

Thanks

A couple pics from BMR 2012.

Trying Little Blue. People were looking at me all upside down wondering how and why I had a stock Rover up so far in Little Blue. Made it up the steps and through the notch but didnt make it past the bad part. Maybe if I had a locker or would have disconnected my front sway bar. It claimed my right reverse light. I tried for about 5 minutes, then got winched up. Maybe next time.

http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l54/300zxjuggalo/100_0120.jpg

Trying to avoid a mud hole ( that ended up being empty), I fell in sideways on this one, It was about to go over. It would have only flopped on the side but I didnt really feel like breaking my windows at that moment. That hole that its falling into is about 4ft deep.
