Still got heaps of work to do. At the moment the body is just sitting there but hopefully it should be drivable by the end of the week.

BTW, I'm not a snobby, rich elitist. I'm pretty much considered and asshole redneck by many of the overly PC members of the Discoweb, but there are some good folks on there.

Oh, and yes...Many of them give me shit for running 35s. And no, I don't consider it a big offroad tire, except on a Disco. It takes more work than on a 90. They say we give them a bad name, I think they give us a bad name. I was rally taken aback by the shit that guy posted on the DWeb about Rovers being better and others being redneck, beer-guzzlers. IMO, saying sh!t like that is :rainbow: !

Does the Disco have those "extra" links from the pumpkin to the frame that I believe I also saw on the D90 stock suspension?
It has two trailing links, rubber bush mounted to ears off of the frame like the D90 and an A-arm that has a balljoint on the center of the axle and mounts in two places on the outsides of a very substantial cross-member.
3 links at the rear axle, 4 holding it on to the frame. Make sense? I don't know the technical terms...

Here's mine, I'm just a humble Cruiserhead who also happens to love Land Rovers, especially expedition rigs which is what my background is. Truck is a 1991 FJ62 Land Cruiser I brought with me from my native Venezuela (to the US) in 1996 list of modifications is long and the list of future mods longer still! My pride and joy is a little expedition trailer I built for long-range trips, pics follow this one!
Cheers!

Here's a shot of "Junior", which started life as a 1967 M416 1/4 ton military trailer and has come a long way since I bought it from a surplus dealer in 1995. Since then I've sprung it over, added a locking tailgate and a locking steel lid (gas shock assisted), custom fenders, extended the tongue, added a basket for a cooler, mounted a MARE expedition tent on the lid and extended the foot. Since these pictures were taken I added two jerry can mounts on the sides of the tub and a 12 gallon fresh water tank underneath, now it's just missing some electrical work and a propane tank and it will be done (gulp!)!

forgot to post pic two the first time :D i dont want to scrape the stickers off since they have been on there for so many years that i would take untold layers of paint and bondo with them. the truck needs a new rear tub and a paintjob anyways, but its fine for now and the stickers are just a nuisance.
btw, this truck has already been completely restored to showroom condition once in its life, and my friend who i bought it from and i were tallying how much has been spent on it in total since 1964 and we stopped at around $150k! makes slades 145 seem a little less expensive:D

I am new here, so I thought I would post a few pics. I am in the constant process of altering my 110. Right now i am in the midst of a custom dash design and install to take advantage of the bulkhead vents I am cutting in, and to house the swithches and gauges for accessories i have or am planning to install. I am also designing a rear tire carier to hold my 37" spare.

Here's couple of pics from my friends Land Rover. He (Anssi Oivanen) don't have time for internet but asked me to put these pics and see what kind of comments it gets. Pics are taken at 2000 in one car show in Helsinki, Finland. Tyres are 34" cutted swampers, ARB lockers F/R ZF 4 speed automatic, Rancho 9000. Engine is now under re-build. It should give about 300 horses out when ready and it's about 5 litre size. Also the ZF tranny has seen lot of modifications and torque converter has about 3000rpm stall. And tyres are 35" Boggers nowdays.

aloharover

Just before I found a defender hood to hide the engine
its a 1970 that had been totalled on the North Shore in Feb of 99. Front end was gone, as was the frame. You can see the story at aloharovers.com
As she sits at the moment its on a homemade frame with a 2" lift, Rocky Mountain parabolics, 35x1250r15 BFT Mudders on custom rims. Rover front and salisbury rear with 3.54's. Have long travel shocks with custom mounts. I am getting 13" of travel in the rear and 7 in front.
Scout power stearing with a custom shaft and a tilt column.
Last summer I got a 6.2l diesel, it's got J code HD heads and intake. Basically its just like the early HMMWV engine. I had it balanced and then I rebuilt it with a bunch of 6.5 stuff. I followed the plan from a friend who ended up with 300 ft.lbs. at the rear wheels.
Mated the engine to a SM465 and then to a D-18. The 18 got rebuilt with 3.15 low gears and it has a saturn OD on it.
A munci PTO on the side of the tranny drives a 8k Ramsey winch.
I made a 25 gallon second tank that is behind the seats. The bulkhead in the tub was removed and I moved the seats back 4". The tank is behind that. The tank fixes the stiffness issue of the bed.
I just picked up a salisbury front. I am going to put in 4.1 gears and arbs front and rear.
I also just picked up a tube bender so am going to work up a full cage.
Guess thats about it.

Here's my little car "Tupper", it's a Landrover Defender 110 CCPU 2002 modell. I have not done much changes to it other than tires (GY Wrangler MT/R 265/75 16 on 6,5" wolf rims), steering and frontaxelprotection, Warn 9.5ti winch, Excape Roofrack and a lot of stickers :)

Hi, my RRC when I bought it 2 years ago:
http://stiletti.wipsl.com/albums/range-misc/DSC01159.sized.jpg
It's 1988 3.5 efi vogue automatic, pretty much stock I guess.
Then I installed 1" springs, the front bull bar and the winch, made stronger rear bumber (hi-liftable), and finally got the axles swapped a couple of weeks ago.
http://stiletti.wipsl.com/albums/album82/DSC04732.sized.jpg
http://stiletti.wipsl.com/albums/album82/DSC04728.sized.jpg
http://stiletti.wipsl.com/albums/album82/DSC04758.sized.jpg
The axles are from a Volvo C303 (1:5.99 gearing incl. portal gears), and they have vacuum operated diff locks. Tyres are Q78-16 TSL's (~36*11"). I have 16" under the diff when the tyres have street pressure, I guess 1-2" less when I air down for real action. This beast is 100% street legal in Finland (with 31" tyres :p  ). 44" to the "belt line" in front and 47" in rear when it's very lighly loaded (no spare tyre, very little tools, no rover driveshafts or diffs... :) ).
Now it's built for "safaris" (maybe this is not the right word, but this is when a few (or more) trucks drive off-road for a couple of days (or more)), but it's still a daily driver, although not as much as earlier, but I still use it to take my kids to their hobbies, and when I need to go shopping and my wife has taken our "other car" (2wd Saab).
It has the original 1:1.222 transfer box, so I have 2500rpm @ 50mph, but that is the max cruising speed for Volvo portals, so no real need to have longer gearings, but I have 1:1.003 box waiting as a spare.
Volvo drum brakes are not as good as rover disc brakes, I hope to have discs in this some day.

used more as an expedition vehicle than a serious purpose-built rock crawler, but it does have enough reach and armor to batter along pretty well.

Alright, guess I better do the deed.
Yup, it's true. Sold all my Jeep junk, bought an '01 Disco II, SE7 model. Got a screaming deal on it, so I grabbed it.
I know how the PBB works, been here WAY to long. So, I'll shut up and try to get as much info as I can assuming that the search is working. :D However, based on past fabbing experience, I'm more than willing to share my opinion, so watch out. :flipoff2:
Gonna mod it as a 'midcore' trail rig, 35's hopefully, I haven't had the chance to get underneath it yet and give it my official once over, but we'll see. Looks like Rovertym? is a good source for lift springs, as well as other goodies.

Hey, I lurk quite a bit here. I recently sold all of my Jeeps and bought myself an 89' Range Rover. It has OME HD springs, and ARB front bumper (will be sold and replaced with a custom one), some rot holes in the floor and a tempermental 3.9l. I plan on slowly but surely building this into and truck for exploration and all around good times.

Unfortunately I didn't get the roof tent with the truck.

My stock engined Series III living on the farm where I stored it before I had a garage. It ran like a sewing machine but needs some offroad mutations.
Now I have it in pieces in my garage for the winter getting a rebuild. Among other things it is getting Range Rover axels and a spring-over parabolic conversion welded on them with a gas flowed unleaded head and tubular manifold with SU carb. I'd like to stick an LT77 gearbox in there too. It has the agricultural grade Series III box.

It was a '94 300tdi CSW but I've changed a few things since I bought it 3 years ago.
Here's the basic spec:
- International HS 2.8l TGV (I'll be tuning it when the warrenty runs out in the summer :grinpimp: )
- Breathed on M8274-50 on an ARB bumper at the front, Husky on a custom mounting at the back
- ARB airlockers f&r
- Maxi Drive halfshafts f&r
- OME 2" lift and custom cranked rear radius/trailing arms
- Safety Devices full extrnal cage
- 35" 'pedes
- All the usual underbody protection, snorkel etc etc.
- Rear seats removed, all carpets stripped out... you get the idea
I've got lots of jobs on the go at the moment:
- The M8274's getting a new drum along with a couple of other tweeks
- I'm adjusting the offset of the rims and adding beadlockers
- I've just about finished a new, side exit, exhaust
- A naughty transfer box is on the way soon
- Hopefully I'll have uprated CVs sorted soon
That'll be it for now, later this year the gearbox'll need replacing (not sure what I'm going to do there...) and then I'm going to have annother look at the suspension!

Sorry but here is a shot of my Rover. 1960 SII, I long since traded the safari top for this half cab and gave away the Ford 289. I have regretted getting rid of several things in my life so this I plan to never get rid of, even if it does just sit like this in my front yard. I do have plans for it, as soon as my wife recovers from my other toys. :(

Tricky Tinker - but heres the spiel,
For Ladoga 2006
1) 88" 3.5 V8 4 speed ZF auto Hybrid on portals (Petal)
2) 110 300Tdi Defender, bobtailed, king cabbed, internal/external cage on portals (Hippo)
3) 88" 2.8 turbo 5 speed "Hamburger" influenced buggy (aka Gimp) on 40x18's (strangely enough - on portals)
4) Tourist class 200Tdi Defender (just lifted, GBR'd, ARB'd and armoured)
Apres Ladoga worksheet
5) Project Mouse, (mouse won't be fit till the summer, but believe me, it will be worth the wait)

your a bit busy then....i`m hoping to join you all in 07, although may come in 06, prob tourist class though....
was going to come to the bash in wales, but a bit busy myself
the portals your using, are they the 404, volvo or your own???
and we need pics, right guys!:flipoff2:

Busy is an understatement fella :shaking:
2 volvos, 1 mog, 1 hybrid
heres the the runaround for the mrs (she's 5' 10" by the way)
http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2005-2/944469/ZZhybridsmll.JPG
Shes running in Tourist, as is Hippo so if you get your skates on with the application for '06 you can play with the finished article
dont put it off till '07, 2 reasons;
1) Your first Ladoga will be a disaster - start in tourist or TR1 and get an idea what its about, weigh up the machinery that works and save yourself a lot of effort and cash (I wish I'd been smart enough to do it this way)
2) '06 will be the 10th anniversary - its going to be mental
Tourist class is the Russian equivilent of european triple extreme - you have the option of doing it easy or making it as tough as you can handle. In sport classes you dont have an option - its just nuts.
I can't really see us heading to wales in January, just not enough time, ping me if you're serious about hitting Russia though :grinpimp:
