: 4" lift questions

I just got some Skyjacker 4" springs for the 40 pretty cheap and need some advice on the rest of the parts needed.

- Do I need some new ubolts for the install?
- Will the 40 need some axle shims (reusing stock shackles)?
- Where can I source some steel shims?
- What length RS 9000 shocks should be run with this lift and stock shock locations?

I did do some searching and came up with some info, but not specific enough to help.

Thanks for the input,

Billster

Bill,
1) definetely get some new u-bolts they should be replaced everytime they are loosened. Usually you can take an old one with you and get new ones bent at a local spring supply shop. They are usually about $8-12 depending on where you go... You might need slightly longer ones depending on how thick your slyjackers are versus OEM.

2) Somewhere in archives someone dug up a good source for steel shims. I have used aluminum with decent results, again your spring supplier, you might be able to make some or have some made, or try a supplier like specter off road they definetely carry them. In SLC we have a Napa off road accessories supplier (very cheezy) but I found a set of 4 degree shims there once.

3) Someone will have to chime in about the RS9000s but if no one does the best thing to do is measure, then either call Rancho or see if you can find the application guide on the web. I am pretty sure they have a part number for a Land Cruiser with a 4" lift though. If you measure, try to cram the longest shocks you can in there with at least 4" of uptravel. There are some other good options out there but an adjustable is probably a good idea because you are using unknown springs... Also RS9000s have been discontinued and replaced with RSX9000s but the last four digits of the part number cross over with each other. I am using Doetchtech 9000s but that is a whole different ball game.

I agree with Andre, probably the best thing to do is to call Rancho and ask them what you need.

Also, I got a set of 6 degrees shims I bought. I won't be using them and they are brand new (starting SOA). PM me if you are interested in them.

I get my u-bolts form Kurt at a good price (kurt@cruiseroutfitters) at a really good price. better than I've seen anywhere.
