OK, so yesterday's tasks:
Replace the timing belt and tensioner on my 95 4-door Kick.
Change the oil in my wife's 1999 Grand Vitara
Guess which one was a bigger pain in the ass?
To keep from having to drain the radiator on the Kick, it was a challenge to get the fan shroud off - but disconnecting th PS fluid reservoir from the side of the radiator made it pretty easy. You can't even SEE the 5 mounting bolts on the crankshaft pulley. The 4 mounting nuts for the fan, on the water pump, are pretty hard to get my fat hands on 'em.
But for crying out loud, I had to disconnect the steering linkage to get the damned oil filter off the GV, and then, of course, you can't even get the filter off the engine without losing most of the oil in it, down the side of the engine, and all over the cross member.
I'd rather do another timing belt swap, than another oil change on that damned GV!!!
