Whens the best time to go to the rubicon? Don't like big big crowds (jeep jambo) but would still like to run into some of my fellow web wheelers. Don't know the area so it'd be a bonus to hook up with another group heading in. We plan on being there on a satuday night and staying till we've had enough. we want to see and do it all...
Sometime in the summer july/august would be good or even in
the fall. we're bringing  and maybe a little :smokin:

BTW, you can't do that here unless you have Glaucoma:flipoff2:

Actually the bigest weekends are Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor day. Figure that those are real busy, the weekend before would be slow due people gearing up to go the next weekend and the weekend after will be slow due everyone fixing their $hit.

The trail is at it's best/toughest early in the season. I'd try to plan a trip the first or second week in June.

I think the Jeep Jambo (different from Jeepers Jambo) is sometime in the first week in August. You can check their web site for a schedule.

On any given weekend you will find a group of us from P4x4 on the trail.

The end of June would be great! No worries about snow. It's gone by then. People usually break trail in early May. By Memorial Day weekend most of the snow is gone. Snow just isn't a concern in June.

Take a day or two and run Fordyce while you are down there.

Here's a couple links to help with your schedule.

www.jeepjamboreeusa.com

www.jeepersjamboree.com

Try to get your trip in before these two very large groups go through. They tend to pave some of the tougher spots.

Fordyce is located off Hwy 80 near Truckee. You take the Eagle Lakes turn-off. It's probably 1.5 hours from the Lake Tahoe end of the trail.

cool we'll go there for sure. So if we're trailering the rigs we should park at the tahoe end and run the trail both ways?
or how'd you guys do this? Maybe go to fordyce first then the rubicon?

That would be a good way to do it in my opinion, but you wanna do the ruby on a weekend so you can hook up with more people
