Sorry about crossing over from Jeepdom, but I have a couple of questions that I hope you Chevy guys can answer. I'm setting up a Scrambler with longer springs and am striking out up front (the rear is okay with Comanche pick-up springs). I initially set it up with Cherokee rear springs which proved to be a bit too short and way too soft. I just came in from the garage after replacing a main leaf with the main and second leaves from some S-10 rear springs...plenty long, but the softness/arch isn't cutting it. So, I'm starting to look at other springs and full-size Chevy came to mind. I think they're 2 1/2" wide as well (is this correct?) and I see them advertised in 52" and 56" lengths. Does anyone know if those lengths are measured through the length of the main leaf, or from eye to eye straight across the arch? I'm thinking a 56" long 4" lift pair might do the trick. Anybody got a pair loose or installed that they could give me measurements from? Thanks

Someone will correct if I am wrong, but the 52" and 56" spring lengths are for the rears. A rear spring from a full size may be too stiff for your application. But maybe not.
The measurement is eye-to-eye straight across the arch. Be careful, the advertised length may not be the exact length the new springs come. I order 6" lift spring for my 3/4ton truck (56" eye-to-eye factory springs) and they were a little less than 56". Had to bring the shackle in a little, though they did net the 6"s of lift as advertised and work fine.
That's all I can say. Sorry this newbie can't answer all your questions.

The Chevy springs are 3" wide, if I'm not mistaken. The Yota guys do like the Chevy springs alot, though.

every aftermarket chev spring is narrower then the facory 3"

The chevy springs that us Toyota guys pick are 63 in. long so they are to long for what he needs. You might wanna check the length of rear springs on a 88 under chevy though....I can't remember their length.....:D

Thanks guys. I'll give to Yota board a try. If LilGnt is correct, it sounds like the 52" springs might be the ticket. I don't think it'll be too stiff...there's more weight up front with the engine which is probably why none of these lighter vehicle springs have worked out for me. They look great when I get 'em and hang 'em, but as soon as I lower the jack it's a different story.
