just yesterday there was a "D30 vs. D44" thread that was up around 50 or 60 posts, and we were waiting on pictures showing D30 shafts as larger than D44 shafts...

where'd it go?

I put the pictures up last night with my measurements, you couldnt read the calipers in any of the pics so I would reccomend measureing for yourself. The post may have been deleated cuz of the shit I gave romp stomper as I assumed he was talkin crap on one of my wheelin buds, turns out he may not of been and I may owe an appology, anyway the measurements I think were dana 44 1.090 at the neckdown and 30 was 1.136, use dial calipers and see for yourself, a mic wont give an accurate measurement cuz it wont reach the low point of the shaft.
*edit*
I put pics up also that showed the 30 with 297's was meatier around the u-joint than the 44. Each has an adavantage over each other and I know each has its place in different vehicles but I was toutin the 30 horn a little extra for 2 reasons last night #1 I thougt romp stomper was talking down on a guy who knows his shit and leaving out lots of details and #2 the 30 may have a few more weak links but experience and paying attention to details has shown me the fullsize 44 has the weakest of the 2, it may be cuz I have compared nothing but 25+ year old fullsize axles to almost new 30 axles, age and width may play a role, there are many things needed to consider when comparing the 2 and that was one of my objective's--look a little further than what a few insignifficant numbers tell, give each a chance weigh out the benefits if you want the truth and the truth is it will be different for different people, neither is a clearly better axle.
