i am 99% sure that they are the same . i have swapped an engine from an auto tracker and an engine from a manual tracker and used the same starter.

They're not the same. A search would have yeilded a thread from about a month ago where it was talked about.:D

i called the dealer yesterday, they told me they were different, and i checked with 2 different part's stores, both telling me they were different part numbers also, so i'm not sure...

hopefully someone will get the right answer so this can be straightened out soon..

THEY ARE THE SAME REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE MORONS AT THE DEALER SAY!

And you could have been a nice guy and provided that link rather than just saying he should have searched :rolleyes:

Some people are saying the auto tranny starter is different than the manual tranny starter, and others are saying its the same.

Does anyone out there have first hand knowledge of this? I know Sean has said they are the same, is this based on first hand experience? Thanks for the help Sean :beer:

my first parts kick had an auto and i noticed NO difference btween the 2 but i am not sure when i used it i ahve had 2 or kick starters die on me so i wound up getting a rebiult unit .......i think i on my third rebiult starter noe as a matter of fact.......

the more i think about it the more i have come to the conclusion that the 1.6 basicly sucks.........they wear out qiuckly{the motor}

plus the alts and the starters suck too .....i never had these kinds of issues with the 1.3 or the starters and alts they just lasted ....

i thik i had too change the 1.3 starter 1 time in the roughly 5 years that i ran the 1.3...........i think iam going too forget about the 1.6 just because i had so many problems with them........

i think i found the answer today...

there are 2 starters, one's got 8 teeth, the other's got 9... otherwise they're the same...
