i have a 2000 F250SD, regular cab, long bed. I was considering installing a dually rear end (d60/d70) and fabbing up a flat bedhow. big a project is this. i can weld up the flat bed so that shouldnt be a problem but will any factory rear end bolt into a truck that was delivered with a single rear wheel axle set up? if not whats the closest and what extra things will i need to do such as move spring perches, u joints, etc....

I will have to check but, I think ford just uses an adapter to go from SRW to DRW. And if you have ever had the box side of a new dually apart it looks like the factory fiberglass fenders will go onto the box that came on your pickup. To me it looks like they cut the openings and then cover them with seem sealer, but by all means build a flatbed if you like or it suits your needs better. I will check on the adapter tomorrow and see what it takes to convert. BTW, is it 4x or 2x it will make a difference in converting the front end too, unless you want to carry two different kinds of spares. I don't think that you want to take the rearend in the pickup out because there is no difference between the 10.5 sterling that you have now and the one that would come in a dually, except for the adapter on the end. I'll post tomorrow to let you know.

They are not the exact same (different width), but they do make an adapter to put dual wheels on your rear end, the price is $450.
