Yes I already know that it needs the 23 spline input shaft for the 231 but that is waht they say is too short. I can't use a newer trasfercase can I ccause I still have the stock 30 in the front that is vacumme operated.

Why not? Just buy a Posi Lock cable unit or make your own from Napa parts.
