looks like the first rig doesn't have enough links in the front susp. to keep the axle there. i guess the air bags act like links in that setup?

cool buggies though

The first rig uses leaf springs and links to locate the axles.

Yep the bed and most of the cab will be comming off. Looks like I will keep the front cage, fenders and hood. The cage will be extended to the rear of the bed. I hope to remove about 300 more pounds and make room for some larger tires.

After watch H8 twist and stuff his front tires under rocks and romp the skinny pedal, I'm a firm believer in the CTM's.
Big Johnson was short but one bad A$$ trail.

Anyone who had any doubts at all about the strength of the CTMs, used with Warn Shafts, need only to talk to anyone on the trail that day.
It was amazing how much abuse they withstood.

Here are a few more pics of upper Big Johnson, and the squeeze box, that seperates Upper and Lower. The Squeeze Box, is the ultimate gatekeeper, if you dont wanna tackle it, dont make the left turn, and continue climbing.
Upper Big Johnson, is the best trail Ive been on in years. I think everyone running it, agreed.

Chris's and My rig accounted for probably 95% of all the sheet metal on the trail. Tube frames seemed to be a popular choice, for most of the rigs,(back to the drawing board). Here is a list of the drivers.
Roll Call:
(3) TIN:skull:BENDER rigs (Camo, H8, Mike)
(3) SNORT rigs (Big Feck, Caine, Jason)
(2) Faber rigs (Jeremy, Troy)
(1) Pirate rig (Bob Roggy)
(1) Mike Shaffer
(1) Chris Geiger
(11) Total

The SNORT guys took a couple hundred pics, so Im sure they will have some awsome shots, when they get home from the 30 hour drive.
What a great way to spend the New Year.

Oops cant forget a pic of Camo, wishing everyone a happy New Year

Hey chris nice shots, that was a fun weekend, not a bad trail count. If I remember right there were at least nine trails run in three days, and when bob and I left the snort and tin benders were off running more.
Rich
ps you took so really good lines, as a matter of fact......thanks

It was a blast.

It was intresting to watch how the group worked together to get up. Everyone was helping out each other. There was plenty of ribbing and joking going around too. When rigs broke down or rolled over people were right there in seconds to get the rigs going again. I was really surprised how fast we got all the rigs up.

That sure was an epic run. Remember when buggies were rarer than Toyotas out on the trail. 11 rigs. 9 Buggies, 1 Toy and 1 Jeep.

ps
Thanks for the spare birfs, Dan.
