How hard is it to rotate knuckles on a Dana 44. The axle is out of the front of an 82 Waggy and I'm thinking of doing this myself if you guys can convince me that it isn't to hard. How far down do you have to grind the weld down and is it hard to turn them once you do? Thanks in advance.

Its not hard, just grind the weld and wack it with a hammer. But why? Waggy's have plenty of castor.

yep grind the weld around knuckle until you can see where it separates from the tube (you will see a ring all the way aroung when you are deep enough). the welds have good penetration so you will need to grind into the tube and into the knuckle. it isn't hard but does take alot of grinding. also completly remove the outers from the housing. ball joints and all. you can then use a small wooded dowl dropped through the ball joint holes with a floating angle finder to set your caster angle. i have done a couple of fronts and i have had realy good luck with 8 degrees. i have had really good handleing with it set at 8. :D

It out of a Waggy but its going into a Toyota so I need to get the pinion pointed a little more at the transfer case. I want to be able to drive over 10mph without having the front driveshaft rattle me to death. :D

Just wanted to thank you guys again. I rotated them this weekend and had no problem at all. It only took me about 30 min to grind the old welds off. It was really easy and only cost me $20 and half was the price I paid for the angle finder. :D
