: Are FJ40 front and rear diffs interchangeable?

Well, are they? I want to buy a complete front axle from the wreckers (junkyard) to do a front disk conversion. That will leave me with a spare housing to begin SOA and a spare diff. If I can use it in the rear (of my rig) I will weld it up and try a spool. That way I can always go back if I don't like it!

The problem is that some Aussie Wreckers now like to think of themselve as 'Dismantlers' (like their shit don't stink!) and want to sell me a disk brake conversion 'kit'. One of them actually thinks someone will pay AU$950 for the disk brake parts. Others tried to sell me the parts from 'dismantled' vehicles individually, which totalled up to some really crazy prices. They remind me of that junkyard creature in The Phantom Menace. "You might as well buy a new ship, it would be cheaper - eh?". "Mind tricks don't work on me; only money".

Yes, the 3rd members are interchangeable. Just stick to pre 69 or post 69 interchanges so the inner splines match.
