: What is this truck worth?

Hey,

I was just curious if anyone could tell me what this truck would be worth?

It's a 1994 Toyota pickup, with SAS & hi steer crossover, 4 inch lift (all pro long travels in the front and Skyjacker add a leafs in the back), 4.88 gears and detroit lockets front and rear, Longfields, running on 35x14.5x15 boggers (~80% tread), dual case with 4.7 gears, bobbed bed with tube bumpers and rock sliders.

It's got some body damage, nothing that impedes crawling, but a banged up front fender, door, and the bed is a bit mangled.

The truck is in really good running condition, it's just got the body damage I just mentioned.

Thanks.

If it's X-Cab I'd say about $6-8k depending on condition. It's kinda hard with no pic.
Just my .02

well how hard has it been wheeled?

for starters let's break it down bashed up 1994 4x4 in need of door fender bed work and cab work
what shape is the rest of the truck in the interior and the rest of the paint? how do you intend to drive it once you buy it. trail only? or daily driver?
$1800-3200

cost of repairs depends on where you go and who does the work
and where you get your parts. 250-2000

sas bonus what type is it? home built? professionally made kit put on by previous owner? or custom professionally built and professionally installed? was it completly rebuilt before the installation 500-2300

4.88 gearing not optimal but still a bonus 300new
were they self installed or professionally installed? 200-600

detroit lockers were they new or used before install?350-900

hi steer bonus
what type or kit? who installed it? was it previously a used kit or new? 350-900

dual case bonus new or used? 400-1800
4.7 gears bonus new or used? 250-900
but again who installed the gears and who assembled the cases?
what brand gears? what brand adapter?self install or professional install?

longfeilds bonus new or used? professionally installed or self installed?250-600

tires a bonus new or used? 600-1600

what kind of damage do they have are the side walls all torn up? lugs missing rips in the tread? any grooves? were these grooves rock made or man made?

bobbed bed bonus again who bobbed it how does the work look?
can you see the bobbing job?or does it look clean
or ghetto fabulous 0-1000

lift bonus not optimal but sounds usable new or used?
100-1500

again depends on how hard it has been wheeled. you can really tell how hard one has been wheeled by getting under it and looking for rock damage to the cross member ,oil pan, drive shafts, axles, frame rails, transfer case or cases in this case and any skid plates, also check the gas tank for dents under the skid plate.

tell the person you want to take it to your mechanic and have it checked out and see how he reacts. does he have records of all the work or not? has the oil been changed regularly? all the other fluids? what kind of shocks? 100--500

what kind of sliders? who made them? how are they attached to the frame? what are they made of?100-500

1800 3200
250 2000
500 2300
500 900
350 900
350 900
400 1800
250 900
250 500
600 1600
0 1000
100 1500
200 600
100 500
----------------------
5650 18600 this is least invested to most invested
3500 8000 this is real world now values and could be anywhere in between these figures. or above.

it depend on if they know what they have or not
(it sounds like they do but I never assume)

all these figures depend on who did the work? how well the work was done? and where the parts came from? and what shape is the truck in now? did they buy it already built or did they build it up?

so your question is kind of vaigue or how ever you spell that. if you have pictures some one on this board with a red star can post them for you or you can donate to the board and get one for your self and post them. I don't have one yet or I would. picture will help you get a good answer to your question and finding out the above listed stuff from the current owner will help too.

point out all the problem areas, leaky thirds, leaky knuckle seals,
rock damage of any kind, body, tire, rim, undercarriage, skid plates, engine leaks, transfer case leaks, driveline dings, check the pumkin area of the axles for damage too. ask for all the records. check said records for oil changes services and any major repairs.

and one last thing just how do you intend to use it once you are the owner. daily driver? weekend wheeler? full time trail vehicle?
(trailer queen)
if you don't intend to fix the damage and instead just want to wheel it till it drops I would try to pay as little as possible for it.

I'm a newbie to the boards so take this advice or not but I been around in life for a while. and been wheeling for more than 15 yrs
won't say for how much more but more:D

I hope this helps you

Wow, thanks for the info, thats a lot of help, especially the breakdown...

More about the truck though...

It hasn't been wheeled too much. No big trails since its been built up. This rig was stock a year and a half ago, it was a slow build up. Owner is considering going for a '69 vette instead.

The interior is just fine, even has a new stereo. Has a section cut out of the seat for the 2nd shifter, but it's done pretty clean. And, at least with these tires, pretty dang close to a trailor queen.

SAS used all pro parts, just done about a year and a half ago. Front axle was just rebuilt last year.

The gears were professionally installed, don't know about the detroits.

Dual case was used, but 4.7 gears were new (just last year), new advance adapters kit.

Longfields are brand new, self installed.

Tires were used, they've got some tears, nothing too extreme it's mstly on the corners, and the wheels have a bit of rock rash.

Exterior of the bob is very clean, smooth, can't tell its there (except on the side where the bed is banged up, the body damage was after the bob). Inside of the bed is clean but you can see the weld.

You can see from the pictures of the undercarriage, there's not much damage at all. Though it could use an aftermarket crossmember, the stock one was suppsed to be temporary.

Here are some pics of the truck...

looks and sounds like he bought into the extreme hype and built a rig for it then wheeled it and flopped it
scared the crap out of his self
now he's ready to sell it buy it before the fear wears off and he changes his mind.

he has spent a lot of money on it recently

having the gears installed and the sas and the dual crawl box and gears

the tires have been driven on daily to wear the way they are worn. the middle is wearing out too much air pressure

but from the pics it looks like a clean install of the parts and the under side doesn't look rock damaged at all. squre tube drive shaft in the front is the cheap way out but functional

and will work for all intensive purposes unless you plan to wheel it in 4 wheel high at speed then it will vibrate your teeth out.
or if you forget and leave the hubs locked in and drive it. at speed.
it should be good for wheeling though no problem it is a daily thing to see this.

it has diff gaurds on it too that's another plus

but if I were looking at buying it I would point out all the negatives, like it needs a hood, fender, grill, door, and bed work. not to mention the hacked up crossmember on it. the rock rash on the wheels and the tears in the tires, I would mention the tires being over inflated as well since the centers are wearing out .

I would also ask him is the case a 21 spline case set up or a 23 spline case set up?

I would ask him his bottom dollar and see what he says but don't offer more than 5000 for it since it's in so much need of body work. and point out that you want to drive it on the street so you will have to replace the wheels see what he says. he has spent at least that much on it in the last year.

make him give you a figure if 5000 isn't in his ball park
but all in all it is worth about what I am telling you. again it really depends on what your intentions are for it. a wrecked used rock crawler isn't much use to a person who want a mall cruiser with all the bling.

but to a hard core rock (person)it could be very valuable.

a dealer would give you about 1000 for it on trade in. in the condition it is in. not much more. but all in all it looks like a good truck waiting for the right person to drive the crap out of it.

oh yeah one last thinghas the engine been serviced regularly
and has it had the head gaskets fixed yet? if it is a 3.0 v6

but it looks very fixable to me and you could just buy it and drive like that cause carnage is cool

I'll bet you could easily sell it for around $7000

yeah but I wouldn't tell the owner that:D

yeah offer him 5000 and then turn around and sell it for 7000 and make a quick buck.

no in reality it is well worth 5000 to 8000 dollars

depending totally on the area and availabilty of vehicles

get it before the skeered wears off or he might reconsider

a high side fall and hanging from your seat belt scares the crap out of you. it just seems further for some reason:D and harder on you too.
