: Good way to start the day
NC Zuk 02-17-2004, 05:58 AM Well I got up at 3:30 to go and jump out of a plane. ;) Since 9/11 a lot of Fort bragg roads have been gated and what used to be a 20 minute drive to the Drop Zone is now an hour. Unless............ You go "cross country" Well it had been about 4 years since I had taken that route but I was 75% sure I could remember the way. I was wrong  Anyway, I got in about an hours worth of 4wheeling in before I got to the Drop Zone. I crossed creeks, ran over trees and took one too many risks. I rolled it  The Great news is that there were Military Police who had been trying to catch up with me to give me a ticket for trespassing. They graciously got me rolled back over then gave me the ticket. There are a few new crinkles to the hood but no other body damage. The rear soft top bow was pretzeled but as expected the Rock 4x Fabrications Roll cage went unscathed :D Well, I made it to the drop zone only to have the jump cancelled due to rain/ice/sleet/snow. So we went to IHOP!!! On the way out I slipped and busted my arse. It's definately gonna leave a mark All is well till I get onto Fort Bragg when a Mustang rearended me. Thanks to Jim Shrake and Shrockworks there is no damage to the Zuk. The Mustang is gonna need a LOT of work :flipoff2:
Well, the Army used to say "We do more by 9am than most people do all day" It's only 7:30 now. Wonder what else can go wrong in the next 90 minutes!!!

I just love it when you are safer behind the wheel of a 4WD vehicle than you are on two feet.... LOL
Tusker 02-17-2004, 07:19 AM Art. The jumping out of the plane was supposed to be the thrilling, trecherous part of your day. :D Glad to hear you are alright though (excpet the arse :( ). How bad is that pretty hood?

Man there are about 3 more small dents in it. Not bad, I can live with it. I tell you, I must have hit my head pretty darn hard when I rolled. I have a heck of a lump now. As for the arse, I fell on the same bruise I have from skiing last weekend
jeeppartz 02-17-2004, 09:23 AM Glad you and the Zuk are alright . Sorry to hear about your roll , but at least you didnt tear it up too bad . It sucks about the ticket though . The mustang just adds insult to injury . Hmmm didnt that bruise come from you getting rear ended ? Do I sense new buildup money ? Lol
Where did you go skiing , Sugar or Beech ? I was at Brian Head skiing last week myself .
Tintop 02-17-2004, 10:07 AM What were the military police driving to catch up with you in? :flipoff2:

LOL, It was a HEEP Cherokee. I was on and off some maintained dirt roads. I thought I had seen some headlights in the mirror and just assumed someone else what taking the same "Short cut" ;) Anyway it happened while transitioning from the woods to a road. The road was dug down in about 4 feet and I was only running stock headlights. I drove off and the front passenger tire just tucked and I did a 3/4 roll over onto the drivers side. I thought no biggie, the guy behind me can give me a hand.

LOL, I don't care about the insurance money. I take great pride in that skid plate. It's the second time a car (honda civic the first time) has met it's wrath. It is BOMB PROOF!!

You got hurt on Appalachian Ski Mtn?! I'm sorry, but that's hilarious. I've seen steeper hills on an ant mound.
You should have gone up to Firetower when you were there. That's a great view of Boone. There's a trail off the dirt road that looks pretty hairy. It goes straight down the mountain for about 200-300 yards. I wanted to try it in my orange truck when I was in school up there, but being the biggest rig in the bunch, I didn't want to risk it by myself and not have a way back up.

Actually I didn't get hurt skiing. I busted my arse 2 times walking from the lodge to our house. We have a house down on Galax that we rent every year (turn right before the gate) It was 45 degrees and raining on top of 2 inches of ice. Traction was definately at a minimum ;)

NC Zuk 02-17-2004, 07:31 PM LOL!! I never thought about that. I have so many jumps that it is second nature. That is what you call freedom!!!
Non Urban 02-17-2004, 08:04 PM Hey Art, were you jumping for work or sport?

Work :D It's a hard job but somebody has got to do it ;)
CTBrent 02-17-2004, 09:48 PM Yeah Art... about two weeks ago a woman at the drivethrough who apparently forgot something right as I pulled up to the window backed up in her "Brandy New" Escalade and got worked by the Shrockworks bumper. The rear door was riddled, she was pissed, and that was that. I was fine...nothing some flat black couldn't fix.
I don't get it one bit, Jim you put an idiot magnet on these things?
Shrock 02-17-2004, 10:12 PM So some of my steel is snacking on Escalade's and Civic's huh? You guys just made my day. :D :D
