I have a RC 60 from a '79 ford. Is it possible to run 35 spline outers instead of the 30's? What does it require?
Thanks,
Chad

I don't have the link here, but somwhere back in the archives is a link for 35 spline outers, i think all you have to do is run 35 spline hubs, there are shafts made to fit right in the spindles.

I have 35 spline outers on my ford. Fit right in spindles but I had to re-boach center spicer hub gear. If you run the 35s the yokes on the axles will start breaking next. If you are open in front the small ones should be OK. (maybe).:) :smokin:

I was under the impression that the 35 sp0line outer were too big for the ford spindles???

What outers do you use, Spicer?

Warn 35 spline outers will do the job???

The inner dia of the Ford spindle is the same as the chevy d-60.
but, the length of the d-60 chevy spindle is longer than the ford.
also, correspondingly, the chevy wheelhub is longer than the ford
wheelhub. (the wheelhub/spindle are both paired) The chevy
knuckle is clearanced for it's large single-piston brake caliper.
the ford knuckle is not.
the ford knuckle has 5 bolt mounting for caliper/spindle mount.
the chevy knuckle has 6 bolt mounting for caliper/spindle mount.

I will be running chevy spindles/wheelhubs, on ford knuckles,
with ford brake calipers. (redrill spindle mount holes to 5-bolt)

also if of any use of information to anybody, the caliper-brackets
can be used on right-of-left, and visa-versa.

What is the benefit of running chevy spindles and outers? Why not just run the ford stuff and use 35 spline outers?

This is a easy one if you have all ford 60 parts all you have to do is make a .625 spacer for the spindle and run chevy 35 spl. outers that are 75.00 new , forget the 600.00 that wagoner wants , or you can do what your doing and it will work as well but if you use the ford and make the spacer all you need is ford dana 44 backing plates and you can make a 5x5 1/2 l.p. with bolt on disk for free:smokin:

Yes all I have is ford parts so if i could stay all ford and still run 35 splines that would be the best for me.

What is the spacer for behind the spindle? Is it because the chevy 35 splines are longer? Why not just cut the 35 spline outer down instead of using the spacer?

How do I make 5 on 5.5 and disks for FREE???

best I recall you would have to cut right a pretty good amount off it which would yeild less spline contact . You are right the spacer is to space the spindle out so you can run chevys with out cutting them and all the dana 44 stuff from a ford will bolt onto the ford 60:smokin:

oh yea you will have to machine your wheel hubs outside to 4.200 or whatever your i.d. of your wheels are and the backside of your hubs for the i.d. of your rotors but thats it besides redrilling your b.p

Does anyone sell the spacers to do this?

Sounds like to use 35 spline outers I need the spacer, bolt on the spindle, use the D60 hub after it is turned down, D44 rotor after it is machined to fit the D60 hub, then use D44 calipers and brackets??

Is there any other (easier) way to run 35 spline outers in a ford RC60????????

youve got it . I know of no other way to put 35 spl. outer in a ford other that the way I described I have done been there done that you should come out less way less than just buying the new stubs and be able to get parts anywhere
