: Does any one have a source for 1/8 tubing? (oil pressure gauge)

Ok this is a pretty lame question, but I am stuck here?

I havent been able to find copper 1/8 tubbing, longer than 6 feet any where?

All of the gauge manufactures only sell it in 6 foot lengths. And the only thing that you can get longer than that is the nylon shit that the gauges come with.

Is it that big of a deal to run nylon? I didnt want to, I figured it would be better to use the copper, I could bend it to follow the contours of under my dash, and in the hood. I can keep the copper bent away from the belts, but the nylon line is to suple and is hard to keep out of harms way.

Every one I asked said homedepot, sears, blah blah blah.

WHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lol.

I havent found any copper tube in anything smaller than 1/2 or 1/4.

I looked online, summit, egauges, homedepot.com, lowes.com, no where.

I dont want to have to hook up two lines... to make it long enough.

Although I guess I could hookup a copper line for inside the engine compartment, and switch over to nylon line for under the dash. Blah. :flipoff2:

Some hobby shops carry rolls of annealed 1/8 inch copper tubing.

Why not use -03 Aeroquip TFE Braided Teflon tubing? Summit sells it by the ton, and you can make a section as long as you want. Very reliable and easy to tie wrap where you want it.

try this page,

http://www.mcmaster.com

and this item number

8955K112

or just look under metal tubing

not sure if you mean actual or nominal diameter but they have a couple of different kinds in 10 and 50 foot lengths...

Teh nylon stuff isn't all bad. Out in the engine compartment I just run it through a lenght of small diam fuel hose, then run it however looks good and secure it. Keeps it from being exposed, and protects it pretty well.

Last time I bought a coil (15 ft I think) of it I got it at a hardware store. Wasn't sure why they were selling it, but thats wehre I found it.

You know what I will be man enough to tell you that I have no idea either. :flipoff2:

I have an auto meter gauge, and the fitting the threads into the oil filter housing is 1/8, I know because I had to tap it first (it was metric).

So I am making the assumption that I need 1/8 compression fittings and tube.

A good hardware store will have it. Not HD or Lowes. etc.

I know you have said you want copper, but I've also used 1/8" nylon air line that are commonly found on semi trucks. You can get that at most decent auto parts stores. Semi's run constantly w/ 120 lbs of air, so 30-60 psi of oil is no problem.

I know I would not run copper tube in my rig. The vibration could easily fatigue the copper. Yea, I know you could just crimp it if it breaks, but the nylon stuff works fine as long as it is not close to the exhaust.

Ok cool. I guess I will just get a longer section of the nylon stuff... and wrap it in fuel hose or something.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.
