Well I just got a free 91 tracker tub and frame and am thinking of using it for a lightweight toy powered linked buggy. If anyone has pics or links I would love to see.
The plan:
tube the interior with a buggy dash and gauges
some cheap seats for two only
lop the frame off front and rear of the flat center
taper the back panels and tube it for a coil with 4link
tube the front including new engine bay with coils and 3link front
taper the front also w/ radiator in back. cut and narrow the hood
22re 5sp toy case toy case w/ 4.7s
toy axles with 5.71s or 5.29s weld em up
37in mtrs on locks

So what does anyone think this setup might weigh in at? I would like to stay under 2500#.

Well, seeing as how a stock Kick is about 2500 pounds, you ought to be able to do that.

I have a question, though. Quickly reading over everything you posted, it looks like all you're KEEPING from the Kick is about 3 feet of frame. If that's the case, why don't you build the whole damned thing from tube?

If you could keep it under 2500 pounds I'd be hella suprised! My friend's weighed in just under 2500 and that was with 1.6 8 valve, samurai trans. and t-case!

That is a good idea. I am just tossing around ideas right now. I hope I can keep it under 2500 to 3000, this is just a tub, no interior or anything. I like the truggy look with a recognizable body incorporated into the buggy, not just a jungle gym with flat skins and a jeep grille. I like that too but not as much as a bodied one. I would run the 1600 but I already have the tranny, one t-case, and the axles from an 83yota I bought. I also have the front and rear coils 8in tj fronts, and 6.5in tj rears I thought id try and use those with about a 104-8in wheelbase not sure yet.. This is just an idea right now, I have a very capable trail rig yj v8ed with d60s and 40in tsls. I just thought it would be fun to build something with these parts. I could always use the toy truck instead. The idea was something light weight and very flexy to play with on rocks east and south of western washington.

Thanks for the link man that thing is nice. It is almost what I have in mind so it helps alot. I just want to stretch it out front and rear a little further.

With basically a full body, several hundred feet of DOM tubing, loaded dana 60s, solid 1.75 shaft links, a V6, and auto trans, and 38s on steelies plus a fullsize spare, I weigh in at 4000 pounds.
My WB now is at 95". It still looks short, but that's because the Kick bodies are tall and have a very low hanging rocker panel. The next thing I would change would be to drop the roof line as I can almost fully extend my arms up in there. Other than that, I would again keep my WB under a 100" as the trails up here are tight and I need to be able to manuever better. I would also never go 60s again as it's pointless. The only reason I need better brakes is to slow down the weight of the axles!
I have a better idea for you...Buy mine! I want something with leafs, a V8, and no brains required to build/rebuild. It bores me....
Good luck with yours!
