Not sure how the line locks work and how reliable they are but I was wondering if anyone has used one for a e-brake? Thanks.

yeah you can but i wouldn't park on a hill and totaly depend on it(they tend to bleed down) You usally put it in park (auto tranny) and leave a manual tranny in a low gear anyhow.

Another thing is if you like to go on orginized trail rides ,they may give you shit with a line lock only.

Make sure that when you install it, you wire it up so it doesn't shut off when you trun the motor off!!

I have line locks front and rear and I'm adding a true e-brake for safety. Line locks do tend to bleed down and they still require hydraulic pressure to operate. If you loose a brake line, you loose your line lock. I suggest you do both. Line locks are great for when winching other rigs or logs, etc. Just my .02

I agree that you should run an additional manual E-Brake, but Ive had my line lock on for many days and not had it bleed off.

I would go w/ a mico lock. It is a manual lever device. No current draw when ign. is off. Line locks pull about 5 amps. You might have to go to a forklift company to get them. We use them on our forklifts.

I read something about them somewhere that they can be used as an ebrake (but they recommended also having a real ebrake). They also pointed out that in many states it will fail inspection if that is the only ebrake you have.

Organized trail rides? Our idea of organized is, "Hey, let go wheeling"
"Ok, when?"
"How about NOW?"
