Now that it's in and the cold duck is soon to come once I get a usable core. What do I need to do to my main case to get it to disengage the rear and just drive the front. And does anyone ahve a usable core for me?

Thanks

Klaus

If you are just wanting to know how to get front wheel drive then thats easy. just put the rear shifter in the middle( nutral) and the front in either high or low. that should just drive the front shaft.

Its a bit more complicated than that. If you have a T-shift, which were until ~72 IIRC, you have to take the transfer case apart and take out some interlocks. If you have a J-shift, like mine, you just grind the tabs off the shift rails that keep it from going into fwd.

Or, better yet, SEARCH. Its been covered countless times, and there are countless writeups on this subject...

Oh, and I have a 2nd Tcase..but you can't have it:p

It's a t-shift, and I have read a few tech on jeep 20's with the interlock pins or something like that, just wasn't sure. I thought it would be as easy as moving the shifters, because that is what I was originally told, but it's not. The case has to come back out for a rebuild and I'm sure it will make the cold duck install easier. I do remember seeing a good schematic of the 20 on here somewhere, but can't find it? Im also not sure if it was a jeep or ford 20 and how much different they really are other than front drop. Thanks for the help, it usually makes a lot more sense to me after I tear it apart.

Thanks again

Klaus
