I would like to get rid of my full-time unit and go part-time. Would it better to use the Mile Marker kit or should I change the transfer case, rear end ,and the drive shafts. As you can see I'm not that smart when it comes to the drive line components. If it is best to change everything does anybody know what parts I should use. I have an AMC 360 Turbo 400 in a CJ 7 .I am trying to free up some HP and save my front end .I want to keep the 400 trannie.

it depends on how you wheel /abuse it, it's ok for light/medium duty trail rides with the MM kit. if you plan on upgrading the axles, do the t-case too:flipoff2:

Personally, I like the QT...it's really a pretty good case, it just has a bad reputation. The big problem right now is replacement parts. IIRC, you can't even get the cones for them anymore, so rebuilding the thing could become a PITA. I'd get a different case; I went with the D20, FYI. ;)

Thanks for the info but those who use the D20 did you have to change the rear end and drive shaft? Does the front drive shaft have to be changed as well? :jeep:

You just go get your shafts retubed for the right length, not that big of a deal..... if you even have to do that at all.

You have to disassemble the transmission and replace the output shaft.
Your driveshafts will work, but the rear will be at a lateral angle

my opion is get rid of the qt t-case. i broke three chains in them with a 304 and 33" tires with open diffs. any wheeling with bigger tires or h.p. you're going to have problems. i'm not sure i would run the driveshaft on that angle, it may work if it was longer but i think its to short to work with out major vibes. i know you said you want to keep the th400 but a tf727 bolts to the amc engines and to the dana 300 t-case with no special adaptors.
