Is there a problem with removing the heat shield coving the stock manifold?? Mine is rattling so....i am thinking the trash-can is the best place for it. The only reason i ask before i trash it is because of the way the airbox is connected to it.

The connection to the airbox is to help it run during cold starts and without it you will also get more heat into the engine bay. Fix it or go to the junk yard and get another one. :usa:

Actually, my friend bought a truck less than 24hrs and it is his that is rattling bad. We are going to start working on it this weekend. Mine doesnt rattle, i just never knew what it was for. Thanks for the advise though.

So....what happens when you put a header on the truck. Does it replace the heat shield with something, or does it just make the truck run crappy when it is cold??
