amc 360 vacuum advance [Archive]

Just bought my first amc 360 in a 84 cj-7 and some one has changed the points to a mallory pickup in the distributor , and also changed to a 12 volt coil. my question is sould they have left the ceramic resitor to the coil, and also i can't seem to get the vacuum advance to work properly. It seems to have to much advance when hooked up. when unhooked the thing runs great. I have the timing set at 5 degrees btc

If it runs, don't mess with it...

As for the advance, they likely put on lighter springs and/or changed the vacuum unit. I'd get factory both.
