The Stage coach Inn is the nicer one just from outside appearance. I have never stayed at either of them.

Disco,

I'm the President of the Dixon 4 wheelers, Can you advise on the current road conditions at Sly Park. There are a few of us headed up early Saturday as you know and we are attempting to tow our rigs on trailers with 2wd pull trucks. If there is any ice or snow I will most likely drive my rig. We would like to make it too the Information area on Iron Mountain Road with truck and trailer. If that is not possible, how about the Safeway parking lot at Pollock Pines? Thanks for any info. Slvregl:D

Most likely you will not make it to the info center towing with a 2wd. Where I live(about 10 minutes away, south west) the roads were icy this morning and I’m below where most of the snow falls. DOT does a great job plowing the roads but there is not many areas to park tow rigs once on Iron Mountain (at least for a 2wd tow rig). I don’t think Safeway would be too happy with tow rigs in their parking lot. I would try giving Sly Park Recreation area a call and see if you can park your tow rigs there. The number is (530)644-2545. Down by the boat launch is a huge parking lot but they will most likely charge you. Other than that I don’t know what to tell you but to just drive your rig. Sorry I’m not more help.

yeah with the snow this low I wouldn’t try to make the info center with a 2wd hauler. The first corner after the 2nd dam was nasty with black ice a few weeks ago (they stopped plowing there) With the weight on the trailer you won't have a chance. I tried and slid to the low side of the road very quickly, I un-loaded my rig off the trailer and was able to get going again, but I have 4wd…

You’ll be there early enough in the morning that you can grab a spot off the road at the first or second dam and you should be fine ;)

What about parking by the post office where the bowling alley is/was? Is that big parking lot still there? I always use the executive parking at my moms house in Camino. See you all up there.

Good call. That is a huge parking lot and it's never full. I would try that. ;)

The address to the Bowling Alley Parking lot is:
2667 Sanders Dr
Pollock Pines, CA 95726

Here's a map:

Thanks for the info...If anyone knows the number for the bowling ally, I will call and see if they allow overnight parking. I really do not want my rig towed away!...Thanks again...Jim
