Merry New Year Everyone :flipoff2:

Well, it's time to do something about my custom "S" front leafsprings. I finished them off in Las Cruces and they got's to go. I have got some Ferocious axle wrap on the front end - it got worse when I went to Toy axles. Has anyone else experienced this, and what did you do about it?

I've had this problem on almost every vehicle with front leaf springs that I have owned, mainly in sand. We had the problem badly in our sidekick, enough that I snaped a u joint at one point, so I took one of our samurai traction bars, spun it around to the front, built a custom upper mount, hooked it up and eliminated the problem. I've got another set up as well that works.

Yeah I was considering this same scenario but wondered why I had Never seen anybody with one.

Okay, I'll bite: Sky, will you tell us about your "Other" set up that works?:D

i have the same problem in my jeep. i run a rear anti wrap bar i built off the sam's design and it works great so i plan to build one for the front too. no reason it shouldn't work.

The reason you havn't seen it is that many people don't have a clue what axle wrap is, I've had to show a lot of people what it is, wrangler springs and 33's are great examples on a suzuki. Get in, apply brake, let clutch out slowly while the owner/driver is watching, most people are fairly amazed when the pinion points at the rear seat...

So why no front, same reason, people don't realize it. Local wheelers including myslef have been using them for years around here in our swampy forest land that requires big tires, big power, and momentum.

So the new Idea, its based on the old idea, like the Sam and Eds bar but it adds tons of clearance and is more adjustable, plus it just looks cooler and is simpler, with the same results.

I'd tell more but everyone know what happens when someone comes out with a design, and no copywrite or patent, so before I make too much noise, I need to get the legal stuff done. Tim, you can E-mail me and I'll show you a spy picture...

I had thought about buying a set of drag race type ladder bars and mounting one on the front and one on the rear (sam's style). They are about $200 for the pair ($100 ea.)

Exactly how long are the "off-road" traction bars?

Welcome to the board Richard! I think you'll like this crowd better than the off-road.com people..... This bunch is a little more hardcore.;)

What's new with your rig? Did you put the 'yota axles under it? Or those Rockwells you had?!?

Everybody else is gonna do it, so I'll be the first....... WELCOME NEWBIE!!!!:flipoff2: :D :flipoff2: :) :) :)

I am ready to start paying again!!! I pulled it into the garage this week (and bought metal). I'm finally gonna stick the toy axles under it. Doing the S/R wrangler swap at the same time. I think I am gonna do the front mounts similar to SCAWFISH (spelling?), except I think I am gonna use slider boxes instead of shackles to try and make the springs live a little longer and maybe not twist the axle housings as bad. I can't decide exactly how far to move the front axle forward though....any opinions on waht the perfect set-up is? .:bounce2: :bounce: :bounce2:
