Well with all this talk about group buy stuff, anybody interested in getting detroit lockers for 2.5 ton rockwells?

I'm going to be needing 2...

I talked with one of the vendors and depending on the quanity it looks like the price would be 350-370 + shipping, only pain is only way they will deal is have one person buy then have them re-distribute.

If there's interest I'll get some better #'s together or if someone else wants to set it up thats cool too:)

Ok found out a bit more...

3 - ~$384/each
5 - ~$376/each
10 - ~$350/each
plus shipping from me to you
If I do this I will send them out UPS, my door to your door

Might be able to get another couple of bucks knocked off depending
on what the shipping to me is...just need to find some more people now...

Looks like there's interest in 4-5 so far
m715 - 2

Count me in for one for now, I think Im going to weld the rear. I talked to my friend, he says he's going to use 2 when he does it, I'll try to convince him to jump in and get them now.

Daniel,

Do you have the part number for this application? I saw them on the website but didn't know which one would work. How much are they again?

I need at least one, I will be welding the rear. When are you going to be doing this, I havent even picked up my axles yet and Im already ordering stuff LOL .If you need anymore info here is my email : bigtacoma4x4@hotmail.com

Daniel,

I am out of Durant, OK. Do you have # or email address that you check regularly, I am going to have a few questions about these axles when I go to tear into them. They look pretty simple.

Does anyone have pics of 2.5tons with the hubs flipped and the drum brakes removed???

Lagos, I seen your pics, What kind of offset are looking to get on your wheels. Im going with the pinion brakes So I can loose roughly 250Lbs of drum brakes per axle, thats the reason I wanted to see some pics with the drums removed.

I guess its is just how wide you want your rig to be.:)

I got 15x10s with 4" of backspacing from MRT...I hope they come soon....I've got a few cool ideas on the brakes, can't wait to start playing with them.

Cool, Im wanting MRT Beadlocks also. If you dont mind, How much did the cost you.

I also have a few ideas for the brakes, I have considered using a cavalier disc w/ a dodge caravan caliper, then fabbing up a mounting bracket to mount the caliper to the top of the pinion assembly. Cost about $15 for the disc and like $20 for the caliper. Compared to the $400 setup that is sold.

As far as I know it's the regulat cost of the wheel plus $57.50 for the rockwell center...

Hey was out the last few days with some nasty flu, I tried to read the computer this morning but it made me nauseous all over again...

Looks like there is enough interest for a group buy, I'm trying to put together a count now, and place the order by the end of next week, if not before.

If anyone is interested email at:
schulze@cj7jeep.com or
schulzle@yahoo.com

The lockers will be $350/each + shipping from me to you,
if the order goes over 10 and I can get the price down further then everybody will see the price...this is all going on my credit card and I'm not looking at making anything on this...

Daniel - I've got a bunch of questions for you, wish you were closer to NY
Last time I looked they were 389 a pair at autozone...but that was awhile ago.

Milemarker hub part # is 11166-01 ? retail $609.38

Detroit locker for 2.5 ton top loading 16 spline rockwell # 225-S15

My misatke I found it
this is how they are listed
rockwell
rds 75 axle 11038-01
rds 90 axle 11162-01
rds 90 axle 16 hole 11165-01

based on daniels price the 11038-01 is the one you want...the others must be 5 ton axles ??????

take it to autozone and probably ask the manager....if this doesnt work i can get these for anyone for 300 a pair just like daniel said but i would need to order atleast 2 sets ??? when i called autozone about some m715,s earlier this year i had to speak to the manager and they said a week or so and there wasnt a min. amount they had to buy,,so autozone should work.....

I went to the milemarker website and got specs on each hub. While that part number would bolt up, the website says it is 30 spline, and the rockwells are 16. Has anyone actually put a pair of these on or are going on rumor that they have them?

:p Hey, Daniel Looks like my idea might work by welding spiders and installing Lockouts
I just need to figure out what spline shafts i have (Im too lazy to take hubs off!!) The flipping hubs and eliminating brakes wore me out!!
I Got my wheels built for my 48-31-20'S they turned out awsome
I took a stock 2.5 ton wheel, cut it in half with a lathe, Had a piece if 3/16 steel rolled 19.5 inches and spliced it in, I welded each wheel in 4 places they are STOUT!! I figured it up i put 86 feet of beads on these 4 wheels!!!!! It cost me around $200 for all 4 where as 4 customs would cost $2800!!! Man I love this miller 210!
Big Block going in this weekend and mabee put axles in next week!

Going to be a BIG blazer!

Couple things

those numbers are out of the book mile marker sent me for a small account i have with them....let me know if the web site is wrong...thanks

2 welded front and rear will be great in my opinion if you have front and rear steer...other wise the turning radius will be bad and it will tend to push the front with it welded as we all probably know...these hubs are 300 a pair...for 50 more you can get a locker on this group buy....i dont care about on road driving though. it seems maybe cheaper if we keep getting people....then you dont have to worry about cornering and if you ever do get rear steer also...oh man...look out..i have a friend that set this up in a suburban...rockwells locker front and rear and rear steer he could turn with that long thing out of a parking space skip one and pull into the next one........

thanks again luke for the group buy...

No think about it if you have 4 wheel steering, you weld front and rear, you but one pair of lockouts, put one on RF, other on LR, or vice versa. on the street it would turn like a stock one then you get if off road and lock hubs its fully locked, and if you break a lockout you can still get home!!!
Amazing!
Cant wait!:rasta:

billyji

yeah i got that...but off road you turing radious will be larger with it welded...the detroit will allow for a smaller turn.....and i agree with rear steer it wont matter much but without and something like boggers you will need a football field...ok maybe not that much

I talked to Milemarker today, the rep and the tech guy I talked to said they didn't have anything with 16 splines. I sent them the pics of those hubs and they are going to look into it for us, hopefully it is just a misprint in their tech guide. I'll let you all know when they get back to me.

I pulled the brakes off my front axle and tried to flip the hubs. The problem is the backside of the hub is hitting the studs for the spindle. I guess I could cut the stud length down but would rather not. It looks like course thread in the knuckle and fine thread for the spindle nuts. Can I juse use bolts instead of the studs, what have you all done?

It looks as if the backside of the lugs are going to hit any type of bolt head or nut on the spindle face....

several options
rumor has it, you can install bolts or counter sink alllen heads and or counter sink studs or mill/grind off part of the stud or hub...all of these approaches have been taken

I got the skinny on the lockouts...

Milemarker makes them and then this company www.m35products.com modifies them to work on the rockwells.

The price is $550/pair which includes shipping...if there is enough interest then we can get a discount with a group buy deal/setup.

I'm neutral on it right now but it's definately something I'd like to do in the future.

remove the studs and replace them with grade eight bolts...save the little lock washers under the bolts because they can be re-used on your grade eight bolts as a standard lock washer will only push the head of the bolt closer to the flange.yes, the back of the studs are going to hit...so get out your 4 1/2 grinder and grind the back of the lug studs until they clear...hope this helps.:D

Looks like some confusion has cropped up

As far as I know I'm still running the group buy for the detroit lockers, I was emailing Daniel about some 16.00x20 Michelins and he was very kind to offer to help out with the group buy if we liked.

I'm not going to be running with the money, the way I have the buy worked right now is I am paying for all the lockers up front is my own coin (over $4k now) and once I have them in my hands I'll start collecting money and shipping them out.

We have hit our desired goal of 10, so the price at $350 each is good

Daniel how much of a discount over normal shipping do you have on small packages?

DEADLINE - Next Tuesday 15th, 12:00 midnight

Wednesday - I will try and post a list of those interested and the final count of lockers that will be ordered and more details on how to pay and when...
