: US Wheel Rock Crawlers on FJ60...Cleared!

No shiat! I rolled my 60 into the garage with my grinder ready to go to town on the calipers, and they bolted right on!

These were wheels I bought from Desert Rat in Mesa. The wheels were brand new, unpainted, still in the boxes, UPS labels and all. Some guy ordered 2" bs wheels custom for his Blazer, and US Wheel sent two sets. The sales guy said they sat there for months. $40 bucks a piece, no waiting!

The centers look just like all of the others I have seen, the "D" windows even have the rolled lip from the press. At first I thought I was on glue, but they spun right around w/ room to spare. Maybe I'm jinxing myself, and when I replace my frontpads(thick, new ones) they'll rub, but I'm having new 33's mounted tomorrow...nice.:D
I'll post pics of before(235R75 15's) and after w/ 33x10.5x15 BFG/KM's soon...

Is this a fluke, or did US Wheel change their wheels? Is there something different about 85' FJ60's?

I'm confused, but happy...

It is the backspacing, moved the rims out which probably helped with the rubbing...

Just curious. Are these the same wheels that 4WP sells in the 2.5" flavor???

I heard that it was the center stamped part, specifically the "D" window that rubbed. It's the closest part to the face of the caliper. The shells look reversed, and w/ the mega offset maybe that helped w/ caliper clearance on the OD of the caliper. These are 15 x 8 2" bs , meaning 6" of the shell is out board.

...Ask 4wp if they buy US Wheel...These came in US boxes. I don't know if they reverse the shell on 2.5". I heard anything under 3", and they reverse them.

Other than the shittty paint job I did, I think they are going to work good.

BTW, I chose 33 x 10.5's because the 33 x 12.5's I borrowed on 3.25" bs rims tucked nicely. I'm hoping the narrower tires/more offset will fit/tuck the same.

I'll find out this weekend...

I've got 4WP 3.5 BS rockcrawler-style wheels on my 9/85 FJ60, and when I put early-90s 4-Runner calipers on , the d-windows rubbed. instead of grinding on the caliper, I spaced the caliper back from the knuckle with a hardened washer between the caliper and knuckle. Been there for almost two years and hard wheeling...

I am confused. How would new pads affect the caliper/wheel clearance?

Sorry.. I fell out of my chair there.. And when is that 6AT going in?:flipoff2: And you did say wheeling right? Not parked?:D
Yeah I'll quit hazing you.. My Fj40's been dead for a while now.. Will probably be up to help you with that axle this weekend..

It shouldn't on a fixed caliper like the toyota design, it should on a floating caliper which rides on a pin and the piston pushes on one side only. Someone correct me if I'm wrong?

of course they didn't rub, they are 2.5"

stock backspacing is 3.5"

the 4wheelparts(asshatss) wheels in 3.5" rubed on my 60, 3.75 from Unique didn't. It was the D cutout.

Give us a picture of that V8 in your jf60. And what size is it. :shaking:

I have the 4WP 2.5" BS wheels on my 40. Only the passenger rear caliper barely, by a half a c-hair, touched on 1 spoke. I just filed the flashing off hte back of the spoke and it was all good. I'ts the way they press the centers that causes the interference.

4WP does not sell US Wheels, they make their own. The 4WP "rockcrawlers" are Procomp wheels. Procomp and 4WP fall under the same corporate umbrella (Not sure who owns who but it's all the same). If you did have rubbing problems, which I understand you don't, a little file action on either the offending caliper or spokes would quickly solve the problem.
