ok i don't know how stupid of a question this will be, but i ran a search and couldn't find an answer. i bought conferr spring perches for my flatty and when i brought em home and set em on the axle, they weren't the same size. like the arc on the bottom of the perch is too big for the arc of the axle. i was told by the employee that its kinda a one size fits all deal, but it just didn't seem like it. i was just wonderin if i bought the wrong parts or what. thanks

are they the right width?

yeah the springs and perches are both 1-3/4" wide

they are prolly the right ones then. not many vehicles use those perches and they prolly make them a little wider for people swapping in d44s. they will be fine once welded on

well the problem is that if i set the perch on the axle directly in the middle, there is space between the axle tube and the sides of the perch. basically itd only touch in one spot in the middle. it seems to me that the only way to get a big enough spot to weld would be to push the perch so one of the side touches, but that would leave twice the space on the other side, and it would also move the center pin of the spring packs forward or backward (either way the pin would no longer be directly over the middle of the axle becuase the hole in the perch wouldn't be)

you cant tack it in the middle then fill the sides with weld?

well i thought about that but then the angle that the springs sit on the axle might be different unless i can tack the perches and fill with welds exactly the same way, which i doubt is possible

are the perches supposed to be universal? or do they sell ones that fit specific axle housing diameters?

im betting warriors are universal. yah might wanna look into a diff companies perches. more sells great perches, i always use theres.

You could also get some 2"X3" steel tubing and the correct diameter hole saw and drill the hole where you need it and then just drill the hole for the centering pin. this would allow you to raise or lower the mount to what you need and allow you to make the perches a little longer to help axle wrap if you are SOA.

also a good idea. these spring perches were 40 bucks, so that would definately save money. and they would also actually work unlike these. thanks for the idea

you can either grind out the perch to fit right or do the box tubing idea or since you spent 40 on the crappy confers you could return them and spend 40 on the more anti wrap perches and they come in specific sizes and have 3 center pin holess so you can adjust the wheelbase a little, And they are BEEF

first off, are you running the ORIGINAL rear end in your flatty? If so, isn't that like a D40 or something strange like that? with a skinny tube etc..?

the original rear ends are dana 41s, which i thought was what i had there for awhile. but upon comparing diff covers, i found that it was a 44. the front axle is a dana 25 from what i can tell, and since the housing there is smaller, thats where im having most of the problem with these perches. they are still a little big for the rear axle, but worse for the front.
