I have a 3ton sears floorjack that the hydrolics don't work for shit anymore. It doesn't leak or slip. It just doesn't want to get any pressure after about half way up. I had the same thing on my hoist ram and undid the tightener screw and it kinda farted and then it worked fine. What can I do for the floor jack. It got extra hydrolic oil put in. If I undo the screw on the left it leaks. I have tried to unscrew the tightener with the handle in it but it just seems to go forever. What can I do? I took one like this to sears repair and they don't even repair them.

Did you do it with the jack on the floor? I had to take the ram out of mine and do it upside down so the air could get to the top. Mines not a sears though. It was a pain to get the fluid in also.

My sears floor jack just puked as well. I took the screw out to check the ball bearing and the springs and dropped the SHIT. Now I cannot figure out from the F'n little exploded view drawing how to put the shit back in there. Can you check on yours which order they go back in. I took a guess, but I cannot figure out how they work. Oh, BTW. I just bought a new 3.5 TON chinese POS. and it broke after 1 day. What a POS. I will never buy another jack from Farm & Fleet.

My friends Sears floor jack pooped out on him to. So he took it to Sears and told them to give him a new one, the guy came out with a brand new CRAFTSMAN one and was going to trade it staight across until his manager saw. He made my friend pay like 25 dollars or something. Still a good deal i think. But maybe theyll let you swap it if you get the right person at the store.

trade it in  yea right. the last time I took mine in they said for one that it only has aone year warantee and for two that they didn't warentee for "profesional shops" I looked at him and said it was out of my house and that this is how all my tools look. :D Sorry I am not taking mine apart just yet. soon though. is this a sears/craftsman thing? I bought a harbor frieght POS to see if it can withstand me. I am guessing no. It looks just like the crafsman though hmmmm. Who has a killer jack?
these are the real Jacks that the harbor freight Chinese ones copied............ http://www.lincolnautomotive.com/Catalogs/Lifting/Pro/hdservicejacks.html

First make sure it is full of fluid and all the seals & copper washers are good. Then jack it up and crack open the fill hole untill nothing but fluid comes out. If you have a good spring on it it will pull the saddle down for you, if its a cheap jack or the spring is worn out put some weight on the saddle to force the ram back in.
If that doesn't work, then take the fill plug out and pull the saddle up by hand while you have someone add fluid to the resivisor. That is what I had to do when I replaced the seals in mine. After you do that, just bead it normally.

1) Extend ram (ie jack it up until it stops)
2) turn it upside down so that the ram is on the bottom and any air bubbles are up near the valve.
3) release pressure (ie. let the spring return the ram) to force air back into the reservior.
4) Turn jack so that fill hole is on top. (Mine is on the side of the cylinder)
5) Remove plug and fill up with hydraulic fluid.
6) If jack is still mushy, repeat 1-5 until no more air comes out.
ps: This will only be a temporary fix if your jack is leaking fluid.

I should have mentioned the keeping the fill hole up. Mine is on top so I didn't think about it.
