Does a 79 k5 have a dana 44 front or a 10 bolt??










sorry for the gay newb question

more then likely a 10 bolt... look at the diff, a 10 bolt will be more round then a 44... search for a pic of a 44 on here and compare them...

79 hasa 10 bolt. there are some rare instances of 44's I have only seen one

I pulled a D44 out of a 79 K5 at the Upicit last summer... I was under the impression that 80 was the first year for the 10 bolt? :rolleyes: Maybe 79 was a transition year :confused:

Plans for 1979 were to use 10 bolts but they did use up the 44s still laying around, it was a mix.

they had a mixture all the way up until 82 which is i believe the first year for all 10bolt.
I have pulled a 44 out of an 81 before.
but starting in 79 you could get either the 44 or the 10bolt. which is no big deal because they are about the same strength

Mine looks like a 10 bolt.
