Christmas came early this year. And a large truck delivered a very sweet package indeed.

Along with a couple of turny knobs and a air fitting too.

I can smell the fresh paint through the shrink wrap. mmmmmmmm.

Thanks Boyce!

Already bought the disk kit for the back. TSM.

We got a chance to measure my 14 bolt vs my Dana 70 since both are at Mike's. The Dana 70 is a full 1/2" farther from the ground than the 14 bolt! Without shaving. Sweet a 14 bolt in a Dana 60 housing = Dana 70. :D

I called them a few days again. Really nice and informative. The site says they can do "housing modifications " but when I spoke to them the guy said they don't.

The rear 60's are 69"
It was $2375 plus $225 to ship to me.
That's detroit, disk brakes, all the good stuff.
Not to bad

I agree Camo. Unless you got the housings for near free, but still rebuilt everything (Boyces are completely rebuilt) added ARB's etc. it would be tough to beat Boyce's prices.

You talk to any company that sells axles you will find astronimical prices.

Front 60 quotes, fairly recent and fromt memory so these aren't guarrantied perfect.
FootHill, 7K, 12k combo
Sams, near 5K, 9k combo
Currie, near 5k, ~9k combo
Redline (when they where) 6k, ~10k combo
Dynatrac about 7k, ~ 15k combo

I only say too much because they are just axles and it just seems like there's gold in axles now a days.

Axles $4 a pound. Seems to be the going rate.

[/B]

How much did you pay for that kit?.....i just got all the parts for a rear disk ...in the next month or so i should be makin my own kit to sell...rotors calipers (loaded with pads), and the brackets.....its prob goin to be in the 300-350 area with the only thing missing is the break lines...but if you have some old stock front from a chevy half ton they will work for the back..at least the way i am settin mine up like...so every part except for the bracket its self will be all off the shelf parts!

Pufft thats still a good price! also people are alway unloading their 30 spline outers on this board for cheap, so you can have a lot of spares

I picked up a Dodge 60 front for $700 that already has 4.88's and only needs calipers and one caliper bracket.

Got the 35 spline ARB for $610 delivered.

I can rebuild *everything* in it and still have under $2500 in it.... so I still say the prices some of you are willing to pay are way over the top :p:p:p

the difference is your 'piecing' will be all used stuff and Boyce is all new cept for castings.
he got arbd n gears 60 front AND rear 70 for a good deal considering the complete lack of hassle.
didnt have to 'know' anyone, 'walk in the door' just send cheque pricing is always more then 'good buddy' pricing.

most of that boyce stuff is used, not new. they buy up ever auction they can get there hands own. i just can't belive how much axles are worth to some people. to me its way to high but its your dime. me i will scroung around and get some cheap. i don't have the bucks to spend like that. so scrounging is the only way i can play. mike

To me it's just much easier to just (as was said above) walk in the door write out a check and be done with it. Some do good with scrounging, just not my cup of tea. And I don't have enough friends in the business to get screaming deals.

All of Boyce's rebuilds are from used cases etc but the burnables are all new.

Someone price out all the parts of completely rebuilding a Dana 60. It adds up very quickly. And if I would have done it, by paying someone else do the work it cost me about 500 more to have the worries and hassles taken care of with just buying them from Boyce. To me that's a no brainer, but if money is tight and I could do all the work myself, then under those conditions that too would be a no brainer to scrounge and build.

As far as "I can't beleive you paid that for that! :p" umm, I also have a circle of friends and also get things for substaintal discounts or free and in that condition I could say to you, the same. :p

But back to the point, yes I am happy with my deal from Boyce. I'd recommend them to anyone. Great people, great service, good prices.

Could I have done better, I don't think so. Could someone else have done better, yes if they scrounged and did everything themselves, could I have done that, no. Could I have done a lot worse, yes.

Its all about the 1/2 off sale newyear's day

last year: rev 44 front complete - $80
60 rear housing $45

44 spool $90
44 4.88's w/install $210
44 flat top knuckles $40
44 manual hubs $75
44 misc brake stuff, ball joints, seals, etc. $300
high steering $300

60 detriot $420
60 install kit $75
60 4.88's $60 used off e-bay
60 warn full float 35 spline $600 (i know, i got a FAT deal on that one)
60 misc brake stuff (11" disks), seals, brake lines, paint, etc $250

Building both my axles for the price of ONE "write a fat check" axle ($2545)...... PRICELESS

I think I included everything... If I didn't I'm sure I'll hear about it.

Why not take your time and build them yourself, thats half the fun anyway! It took over a year to collect all the parts, but whats the hurry? :D

SO what is that for 2 axles?? Rough double lets say? $2500 plus $2500 is $5000 and someone else built it for him for $700. Not bad. All set up and ready to. Gotta love it. :D:D:D
